Associate: Probation officials bar Michael Vick from leaving Pennsylvania

Probation officials have put Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick under orders not to leave the state of Pennsylvania, his crisis manager told NBC-TV in Philadelphia.

Vick, who was cleared of criminal wrongdoing after a shooting occurred at his Virginia Beach birthday party on Jun 25, has missed several appointments as a result of the order, Judy Smith told NBC. Vick missed a football camp in Baltimore on Friday and a golf tournament in Atlanta during the weekend.

Vick is on probation for his 2007 federal conviction on a federal dogfighting crime. While he was cleared of criminal liability in the shooting, federal probation officials have not said if he violated the terms of his supervised release.

Also, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is conducting a review into whether Vick violated the terms of his 2009 reinstatement.

Tony Dungy, who served as Vick's mentor when he transitioned back to the NFL, said Thursday that Goodell may yet impose discipline on Vick. Dungy said Vick's party -- which was open to all for an admission price -- was a "recipe for failure" for him.

"He's made some mistakes that probably he won't make again, hopefully," Dungy told the Dan Patrick radio show. "Just really not very good judgment and putting himself in a position where you're inviting the public to pay money and come to a birthday party."

vick's not that good that a nfl team will put up with his shenanigans. philly won't keep a player that can't travel and neither will any other nfl team. i see the cfl in his future (when he's allowed to travel out of the country). habitual stupidity can't be overcome. dumb, dumb, dumb....

Biggest second chance in sports and you screw it up again. Vick needs to go.
 
Right you are GARF. This guy has had an opportunity of a lifetime to get his career back on track and he screws up with this stupid behavior. Although Vick had left the scene of the shooting one-half hour before, he was in attendance with many of his friends from his old neighborhood and one of them was reported to have been involved with the dog fighting business.

Either Vick is totally stupid, does give a crap or is trying to play the system, but no matter as Vick is headed for a career ending fall and when that happens, it will be no ones fault but his own.
Vick has had more help to try to get his life and career on track than any sport figure I can recall.

Vick misses planned trip to Raleigh camp.

Michael Vick was a no-show at his celebrity golf tournament Sunday after probation officials restricted travel for the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback this weekend.

Vick missed the Michael Vick Celebrity Golf tournament in Georgia and also did not make a scheduled appearance at a youth football camp in Raleigh this weekend.

Vick spokeswoman Judy Smith said that Vick's travel has been at the discretion of his probation officer since he was released from prison in a federal dogfighting case in May 2009.

The restriction follows a prosecutor saying this week that while Vick wasn't involved in a shooting after his 30th birthday party in Virginia Beach, Va., that he was in a confrontation before the incident.

Spokespersons for both events say they were notified Sunday morning that Vick would not be attending.

"They called early, like 2 o'clock in the morning, telling us he's not coming," said Cornelius Corprew, director of Camp Elite Sports' two-day football camp. "And then we couldn't speak to him. It was through one of his associates.

"We're not crazy. No state agency is communicating at 2 o'clock in the morning that he's not allowed to come. I think that was a selfish act."

Corprew said that he was told Saturday by Vick representatives that the NFL star would be there Sunday. He said Vick was paid a $2,000 deposit of a $4,000 fee.

"I'm upset because our camp is built on integrity and character, and that's what we teach to our kids," Corprew said.

Then why pick Vick.
 
Unless I missed something, all I saw were positive reports about Vick after his release from prison. Because of those favorable reports, perhaps a lot of people, myself included, felt Vick was an setting an example of someone who screwed up, served his time and was on the right path to turning his life around. Not a bad lesson if true. In this case, apparently, it wasn't.
 
It takes more time to me to prove he's"back on track".Especially when he's paid the money he's being paid.Cause it's so easy to go back to that kind of life when money is no object.
