Waltrip to make 700th career start: #55-Michael Waltrip will be competing in his 700th Sprint Cup race when the 11th event of the 2008 Sprint Cup season, the Dodge Challenger 500, gets underway at Darlington Raceway in Darlington, S.C. He is currently tied with Buddy Baker for 13th on the all-time starts list.(MWR)(5-7-2008)

Wow...700 starts and........................4 wins...
.........and you guys are bagging on Kyle Busch?

Who would of thought Mikey could ride his brothers coat tails this long ? Anyone ever hear what happened to that charge of fleeing the scene of an accident last year when Mikey took off from the police in his socks after rolling and writing off his Toyota LandCruiser ?

Earnhardt thought Waltrip was good enough to drive for him, and I have to give him credit for having the balls to start up a three car team from scratch and attract major sponsorship to boot.

I just wonder what it was in Mikey that attracted Earnhardt. Mikey reminds me a lot of Kenny Wallace, someone with a big mouth and a NASCAR drivers license. Both are bothers of past champs and are just so so drivers. I agree that if Mikey hadn't gone to work for DEI, he would still be winless and probably without a ride.

But his commercials are sooo funny.. Love the one were the bird copies what his owners says.. "55 is your number Michael not the speed limit"..lol.. ok yeah they are stupid but I still laugh!!

If my info is correct, not much LOL Duane

Bawahahahaha!!!!!! :lol2::lol2:

One of my favorite clips of "NASCAR moments" is Robby Gordon throwing his helmet at him and then being bleeped when he said everyone thinks he's a nice guy, but he's a .... bleep.

Mikey just proves Robby right most of the time he opens his mouth on NASCAR this week on SPEED. :rolleyes:

Dale also hired Jeff Green and Mikey should be joining him soon .
As far as starting up a failed team i dont see where that takes balls or brains .

Which of today's established teams were successful out of the box?

My guess is the two most successful right from the start would be Hendrick Motor Sports and Petty Enterprises.

HMS first race was 1984 with Geoff Bodine driving. They posted three wins and three poles in NASCAR Sprint Series and one win in Nationwide Series.

Petty Enterprises from their start in 1949, raced six times and had one win and five top ten finishes. Unfortunately, PEI has not shown similar results in recent years. Meantime, one can only hope.................

Which of today's established teams were successful out of the box?

The correct question would be Which of today's established teams were more successful then MWR out of the box? and the answer would be most all of them . When you consider that no start up team in history probally ever had 1/10 of the factory support that MWR recieved it makes Waltrips failure all the worst . Even Penske starting out with a brand new make, AMC Matador was able to get the thing into the top 3 right off the bat .

Between all the lying that Mikey did last year with the crap in his manifold at Daytona then the running away and hiding from the police BS after rolling his SUV (drunk IMO) I am surprised anyone would stick up for this scum bag .
