Midnight Moon

They make this stuff close to my hometown, Junior comes around for local promotions and for the Shinefest they hold in the streets of Madison once a year. Most people I've talked to say it's not that good.

Anyone tasted this stuff...> http://www.juniorsmidnightmoon.com/
Looks like Junior found a way to do it legally :D
Yes, I've got a few of his products downstairs behind my bar. Far from being what he produced/delivered years ago. It's really nothing more than just another name and far from the potency of the real thing. Everclear is probably the closest over the counter liquor that can be purchased. Midnight Moon is 70 proof or 35% alcohol, Everclear is 190 proof or 95% alcohol. Everclear is nothing to mess with! Mix it well. Here's a small section of my stock with the two side by side.

I've been there. Wait, correction, I think I've been there.

Seriously though, recently two of my brothers were in town and I gave them some of the 'apple pie' moonshine that I made using Everclear. They asked if I had ever tried it straight up. I hadn't, so we all gave it a shot. That stuff will light you up! And like the label says, be careful around open flames..... it is extremely flammable.

FWIW, the Midnight Moon that comes in the jars with the fruit is 100 proof.
You know how that works though, right? 100 proof is only 50% alcohol. That is still nowhere near the strength of Everclear. Everclear is 190 proof, 95% alcohol. To put it in perspective. When you drink Everclear you pee Midnight Moon! ;)

Ignore the bottles in the background...... I put six of my so called shine collection together here for a quick pic. There were many more but they all saw better days. These are the survivors but even their days are numbered.

Drank homemade moonshine once, never again. I like bourbon especially Wild Turkey. Was indroduced to the Van Winkle brand. Old Rip is 15 years old and very nice but 50 bucks a bottle! Pappy is 20 years old but at 100 buck a bottle doubt I'll be trying it.
I picked up whiskey stones, made of granite. Keep them in the freezer and they chill a drink down without watering it down.

Everclear makes me think of my best friend's dad growing up. He used to put Everclear in a shot glass and light it on fire. Then he'd blow out the flame and drink it down. He was actually a pretty good guy, and a pretty good dad as well. I really like the band Everclear as well. They usually make me think of him too.

Get ya some LBL Most Wanted Shine, it's made by a family member of mine, and it produced in the small town of Hardin, KY.

I've never tried Midnight Moon, or Everclear. I have a jar of Georgia Moon that i've had for around 10 years or so, and just had a sip or two, something about it i just can't drink. I mostly drink good ol Kentucky Bourbon or SOCO, don't remember the last beer i had.

I want to try the Smokey Mnt cherrys, heard they are good.
