Migraines???

I used to. I hardly get any at all since my doctor started prescribing me Topiramate. You take it every night and it keeps you from getting them instead of treating them once they hit you, which is usually too late to really do anything anyway.

I just checked the bottle. It says it's a generic for Topamax. The only known side effect that a lot of people report is weight loss.

I take it too and it usually keeps them at bay but not lately.

I've been miserable. :(

I was diagnosed with migranes when I was 10. Worst was when I laud down and didn't move for quite a few hours

used to get horrible migraines, then I got my blood pressure under control. Haven't had one for 5-6 years.

Wife had a "complicated migraine" last month. Basically looked like stroke symptoms. Scary stuff, had to call 911 and get ambulance ride to ER. They gave her some meds to take if she felt them coming on again. Not sure of the prescription. Can find out.

I am so glad she is ok, that sounds so scary.

I had an x-ray done today. I go to an ophthalmologist next Tuesday to have my eyes looked at. My neurologist wants to check for Pseudotumor Cerebri. During my exam today, she saw some signs that worried her. That really scares me. I also am waiting to be scheduled for an MRI.

I'm trying not to think the worst.

hope everything goes good and they get you pain-free. think positive, i am for you.

I get them in my stomach. It's still called a migraine and it has the same symptoms. Light and noise sensitivity, vomiting, temporary vision changes, etc. I've been doing really good the last few years, but the road to get here has been long. Most doctors don't know about it since its pretty rare and commonly misdiagnosed. Some of my worst "episodes" were 8 hours long with horrible stomach pain. I would vomit so much that the pressure from dry heaving would burst the blood vessels in my face and I'd look like a tomato for a few days:biggrin:. The first drugs they gave me didn't work. The second drug wasn't strong enough. Now I'm on that same drug, just kicked up a notch, and I take a supplement to that. It worked pretty good, it cut me down to one episode every four months or so. But I had nothing for whenever I had an episode. Well, one expensive trip to Wisconsin for a medical conference paid off. That's where I talked to a man who does Kinesiology on his feet when he has an episode. Next time I had an episode I massaged my feet. Call me crazy, but I felt nearly nothing. So I got a foot massager, and I felt nearly no pain, and had no vomiting. 6 months ago my doctor also gave me a high-power aspirin to take whenever I get my migraine. I took that last time, and I felt great. It took 8 freak'n years, but I'm finally under control.

Well, that's my story. Do share if you know someone who has the same issue. There's no universal treatment for this and everyone reacts differently to different things. Maybe this will "click" for them.

Ive got 1 migraine. She walks around my apartment & calls herself my girlfriend :D

Judging from how everyone talks about them, I'm pretty sure I've never had one, thankfully! I assume that I'd definitely know when and if I did have oe.

I had the worst one I've had, in a while, yesterday and this morning. I just wanted everything to end. It was awful. I took Imitrex, I took Fioricet, nothing helped.

This morning, I got up, it was a BIT better so I put on my scrubs for work. I almost called in, instead I drove to Dollar General and bought over the counter Excedrin Migraine. Damn, if it didn't help. I made it through my shift.

hope you feel better soon Lisa. Can't imagine how they must feel. :(

It feels like a vice around my head, Clutch. That's the best way I can think to describe it.

and thank you so much. You all are so good to me about my bitching.

I've been told to stop taking so much pain medication, that doing so can cause rebound headaches.

rock...hard place.

I'm half-way through taking my steroid packet. It's supposed to help me. *shrug*

Had an epiphany today. It is no longer Pseudotumor Cerebri causing my migraines. I think the 2 major doses of steroids have helped that situation.

I went and bought Sinus headache pills which help sinus pain, swelling and sinus pressure. The pain I was having seemed to MOSTLY be around my temples and eyes so I thought...SINUSES.

I've taken a couple of doses today and my head feels better. I'm not going to jump to any conclusions after only 1 day but I do feel better.
