Waltrip to the #11? before end of the season? UPDATE 2: Motorsport.com is reporting: Speculation has arisen that Michael Waltrip may vacate his seat in the #15 DEI Chevy prior to the end of the 2005 season. Rumors are swirling around the garage that Waltrip has been offered to drive the No. 11 Chevy at Joe Gibbs Racing for the last ten races of the season and next year. UPDATE 1: Micheal Waltip denied one of this weekend's hottest rumors that he will replace Jason Leffler in the Joe Gibbs Racing #11 Chevrolet starting at Watkins Glen. When asked directly by Yahoo! UPDATE 2: Sources close to Michael Waltrip say he is in the running to take a full-time ride with Joe Gibbs, after the departure of Jason Leffler [#11 Fed-Ex Chevy]. Gibbs may move the FedEx sponsorship from his new third team to Bobby Labonte's #18 team next season, and that would open up a quarterpanel for NAPA, Waltrip's long-time sponsor at DEI.(Winston Salem Journal)


Considering the source, I wonder a LOT about this. Mike Mulhearn is far from one of the most reliable of sources IMO.
 
I sincerly hope that Mikey changes his mind on leaving DEI. He had a great deal there why would he want to blow that?
 
leave...the sooner the better.....once he leaves DEI he's going to know that DEI is why he is so popular now....the 15 car was is career car.
 
Or, the sooner he leaves maybe the sooner he retires. The sooner he retires the sooner he takes his brother's place in the booth. And, losing DW is a good thing. Then if Mikey bombs in the booth he'd be easier to ease out, I'm thinking...

HOLY COW !!!!!! Get Darrell out of the announcer booth ???? What a blessing that would be. BUT....................getting "Mikey" in ????????? Lord help us. Can anybody say, Baaaaarrrrrrrrrrrffffffffff !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Waltrip Brothers were most likely vaccinated with a Victrola needle and for those who do not know what a Victrola needle is, look it up.

The Waltrip Brothers are two guys with varying degrees of racing success, and immense egos, who think everything they have to say is of interest.

But does it really matter where "Mikey" goes ???? Mike Waltrip will prove his true ability with another team.
"Mikey" gives off vibrations he is truly "The King" of both NASCAR and DEI while waiting for opportunities to speak into a microphone.

In the event "Mikey" should replace Darrell in the booth, hopefully, his tenure will be short-lived and the predictions by BarePure, accurate.
 
mikey hopefully wont go to the # 11 car before the end of the season cause that would just suck for Jr.
 
I would like to see Mikey drive for Gibbs. Mikey would be a good fit and fill in nicely for the remainder of this year and next. FedEx and Mikey should be a good combination.
 
People that think Mikey would be a good fit at JGR are just Total dreamers!
 
I'm not sure where he would be a good fit now that everyone seems to have caught up with DEI and plate tracks.

I just love it that Terry Labonte is gonna drive that aforementioned # 11 car part time next year. (Color me happy about that!!!)
Mikey, I think, just might end up back with DEI. Don't have a reason
for thinking that though.
JMHO, no respectable, good team, with good equipment, will pick Mikey up.

no...mikey has proven that he cant drive....he has jr's team and cars from last year...the team and cars in which jr had a career year with last year....and is not doing much better.

Mikey doesnt deserve to weight Tony Jr down....tony jr needs to be back with Dale Jr.

Maybe Mikey will have to go to the truck series with all the rest of those other guys that didn't have the cha-cha for Cup.
 
mikey is going to the 2 car for 2006 then toyota for 2007..The reason I say he is going to the 2 car is last month on Trackside Rusty kept saying to mikey "you know where yer goin"..and since kurt can't go til 2007 and Mikey needs a year to wait for toyota...Mikey in the Miller car vs Jr in the Bud car...Battle of the beer cars featuring former teammates...talk about a publicity coo for everyone involved!!...
