(TALLADEGA, Ala. - April 14, 2011) - Sheltra Motorsports has signed Milka Duno to run the full 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season. The 2010 championship-winning team will aim to defend their title in 2011 while making history with the first female driver to win a major motorsports championship.

Duno, a Venezuela native, will also look to pilot her orange-and-blue No. 63 CITGO SUPERGARD car to ARCA Racing Series Rookie of the Year honors in 2011.

Duno recently completed her fourth season in the IndyCar Series and is ready to make the transition from open wheels to stock cars. Championship crew chief and team manager Jon Wolfe returns to the reins of his Sheltra Motorsports team to help guide Duno in her debut season in the ARCA Racing Series.

I called it.

Wise decision by Milka (her career was going nowhere in IndyCar), and a win-win for everyone.

Milka was running well at Daytona, and she's in high-caliber equipment. Sheltra Motorsports has major financial backing now to continue their successful ARCA Racing Series team. And the move brings a lot of attention to ARCA.

I know she drives better in stock cars but I think a championship might be a bit optimistic.

Maybe not the 1st year but I could see it in a couple years. I like Andy was very impressed with her driving at Daytona. Doesn't ACRA have a couple road courses? If they do that will be her big test in a stock car.

If she runs full time, maybe not. There aren't many quality drivers running the full season.

Just look at last year's top-five in ARCA points.

I guess but if there no quality drivers you usually assume Kimmel gets it.

I predict a destroyed racecar & DNF at Salem. Every track she has raced on has been as smooth as a pool table. She will get a rude awakening at Salem. The gravel road that leads from the main road to the track would be a better racing surface. She will hold her own until the tires are worn in about 40 laps and then we will see how she does.

If it was Sheltra Motorsports that had the financial backing then their driver would be racing elsewhere in NASCAR. They just happened too get a driver that brought a sponsor with her. They are sponsoring her and not Sheltra Motorsports. When she leaves the sponsor goes with her.

As far as Patrick there have been many rumblings as too why he is not racing in NASCAR. Of course mainly because he can't get a real sponsor too foot the bill and his family is not going too do it at that level. Then there are more talking about his on and off the track antics and that sponsors will not touch him.

Just shows you that an ARCA title is not even worth the trophy you get at the banquet.

Wonder what she will do on dirt...

I am somewhat surprised at the responses she is getting from the race fans here. Milka has never gotten kudos that I've seen in any of her endeavors. It will be interesting to see how she turns our with full bodied cars.
