CONCORD, N.C. -- Ricky Craven will have a new crew chief next year as PPI Motorsports hired Scott Miller to fill the position for the No. 32 Pontiac in 2003.

Miller is a former employee of PPI and returns to the team from Richard Childress Racing. During his time with RCR, he was a shock and chassis specialist. Miller worked at PPI during the 2000 season.

"It is great to come back to PPI where I know all of the people and all of the systems," Miller said. "I really appreciated all of the support that RCR has given me, but this is a great opportunity that I could not pass up.

"Many times when you enter into a new position such as this, there is lots of changeover with the crew. In our case, since we all know each other and have worked together in the past, I really believe that we will be a solid team right at the start of the season."

Craven, who finished 15th in points with two Bud Pole Awards and nine top-10 finishes, is looking forward to working with his former crewman.

"I am really looking forward to working with Scott again," Craven said. When I first came to PPI in 2001, Scott was an engineer here and he was a big contributor to the team's success that year.

"To have Scott back as the crew chief is something that is exciting for me. I think we will be a great team together."

Team owner Cal Wells thinks that the return of Miller will be just what the team needs to achieve the goals set forth for 2003.

"I have known Scott for a number of years and truly believe that he will help us advance to the next level in Winston Cup," Wells said. "With our switch to Pontiac for 2003, we control our own destiny since we build our own chassis, hang our own bodies and build our own engines.

"As a team, we have progressed to the top 15 in just three years of racing and our goal is to be top 10 in 2003. With Ricky, Scott and the rest of the dedicated folks at PPI, we are sure that we can accomplish this goal."
