Kurt Busch to a backup car after wreck in practice.

JPM & Newman to NASCAR hauler before 1st practice to 'talk'.

Raining now.

From Newman on JPM..... Newman ``I don't want to do anything to his team or my team. It was a personal thing and it will be handled personally."

Jimmie Johnson calls on tracks, NASCAR to invest in safety in wake of Jeff Gordon's crash at Richmond.

Gordon on Richmond hit: Said door bars were "moved in several inches'' but also said car's structure held up "incredibly well.'

Jeff Gordon said he was "shocked" when he saw Richmond accident replay and there was no SAFER barrier. Then he realized why it hurt so much.

Jeff Gordon expects Richmond to have a SAFER barrier in place he hit last week when series returns. Will follow up with RIR officials.

Jeff Gordon's crash at Richmond registers high enough G-force spike that could lead to changes at track.

I thought it was "have at it boys"

This weekend will be all the talking heads telling us about what will be happening between Newman and JPM and what will really happen NOTHING.

There is no excuse not to have safer walls on the inside of all tracks.

Thats my thinking as well. It's always after someone takes a hard lick before they realize maybe something should be done and it's always at that specific track where it took place. These cheap bastards never think proactive or they do and just don't want to fork over the money until it happens.

Agreed. Anyone who thinks differently just needs to look at Jeff Fullers crash @ Kentucky from 2006. There have been plenty of hard crashes on inside walls since (ironically, Gordon's big hit @ Vegas comes to mind), but Fuller's crash should have been a wake-up call to all tracks. Granted, the severity of that crash had a lot to do with a break in the wall for emergency crew access, but still.

Crashes will always be a part of racing. But in this day and age, walls without safety barriers shouldn't be.

Almost $500.00 per linear foot installed......If it's not a patented design, im sure someone could do it for LESS.....Unless the current company providing it is in the "Good Ole Boyz Club"

Well you think about it, 6" square tube, .25 or .375 wall or w/e they use, and it's something like 5 rows tall, that's alot of steel in and of itself.
