Actually, what Ron hit WAS a SAFER barrier. We just did not know it from the public side until Patrick Grant posted these photos. FOX did very well to not show any of it on TV or the NHRA.TV live stream. They showed the helicoper shot ONCE and never again, and it's not on any recorded stream anywhere except the NHRA.tv recording.
Had the wall not gave, Capps 100% would be in the same situation as Force right now.
PS, I checked with Patrick on his post, yes this was a poured wall. Ron happened to hit is EXACTLY where a gate was. That is part of why the left rear tire and that whole stub of the rear axle got sheared off - Ron was literally inches from a Mike Harmon (Bristol) moment.
The NHRA.tv feed also showed the ****pit structure of the body, semi in-tact, including the parachute handles. The fact that the handle is pulled back by the CO2 valve, @Nitro Dude can correct me if wrong, shows that the Electromotion and Leahy box did their job.

NHRA has taken Langdons win away and awarded Ashley the top fuel win in Virginia. I would hate to be the crew person that didn’t install all 12 bolts in the clutch can inspection cover.
Statement says the bolts were in the pan, they vibrated out.
POS move by NHRA to strip the win for something not performance related.

I thought the crewmember just left one out. But either way it isn’t a performance issue. They are titanium bolts going into a titanium clutch can. I don’t understand taking the win away either.
