Mods at Stafford

I love Stafford but it's one of those ''you can't get there from here'' places. Twisty two land country road. The town grew up and now surrounds the track. And there's no complaints. Jack Arute did a ''wicked good job'' making Stafford a prominent track. His son Mark now runs the show.

I went to the race last weekend. Stafford always puts on a good show. The place was packed. They did a very nice tribute to Ted Christopher. His number 13 is now retired from Stafford, the only number retired there. Racing in the modified divisions is the best at any track. However the full-fendered divisions are pretty dry most nights. Access is very easy...halfway between Boston and NYC on Interstate 84. However when they race Friday nights it is terrible because 84 becomes a parking lot and is terribly inadequate for the corridor it serves. The track is 10 minutes off the highway. The "town" of Stafford doesn't surround the track but it is kinda strange how there's a thriving suburban neighborhood next to the track.
