Haha to you JPM haters. :partytime

However, comments from Penske Racing president Tim Cindric during Montoya’s test session today at Sebring International Raceway have brought up the possibility that we could see Montoya in a car with fenders again down the road.

“I think he has some unfinished business in the stock car,” Cindric opined. “At the right time, we may put him in one of our cars that we feel is competitive. I think it’s an interesting thing to do. We have to mutually commit to this. This needs to be where the success needs to be to start with.”

[...]

“Trying to understand that championship mentality is something we failed the last four, five six years,” he said. “We should have half the championships from that span, but we don’t. Maybe Juan can bring us that kind of mentality.”

Dang you beat me to it, I was gonna say as long as it was dry he might run well( no jet dryers)

Damn.. I was thinking about making that my prediction.. that he would run in the 12 for the road courses. Guess I'll have to go with my Joey one :p

He'd make some extra money, my guess would be he drives the 22 at road America and mid ohio

He'd probably do best to concentrate on his new position. I'm not sure what he possibly has to gain by trying to run a limited NASCAR schedule when he had a tough time competing full time. Time to move on.
With IndyCar moving to a five-month schedule, he'll have several opportunities to compete in stock cars without hindering his open wheel obligations.

I read that article five times before I understood what it was saying

JPM is going to drive a jet dryer. :D

Looks like a fishing for sponsors article to me. They have Kez and A.J. for road courses, and Joey isn't bad either. Still wondering who will drive the full time N'wide car for Penske now that Hornish got the boot.

I wonder if all this was decided at the Hornish going away party ? He's pretty much forgotten already.

JMO, but I believe he'd much rather race Nascar. I think he's just going back to Indy cars because it's his only "good" option.
Yeah, I agree with you. He probably saw the Penske Indycar ride as his best option so he just took it.

I'd love to see him come back and run some NASCAR races. I never really wanted him to leave in the first place. AJ Allmendinger managed to find his way back to NASCAR and I wouldn't be surprised if Montoya eventually did the same.

Good. I think Montoya's good for Nascar. He's a top 20 driver with sub-par equipment. With good equipment he could be Chase driver.

I wonder how many fans that aren't traditionally NASCAR fans were brought over to watch it more regularly because of Montoya? I bet there are few drivers out there that are more responsible for pulling new people into watching NASCAR. While other drivers have much larger fan bases, they are all largely coming from the same punch bowl.

Most think the world ends at the Mexican border, Montoya has a very large fan base, Nascar races and most of the other larger forms of races and not only televised all over in South America, but are broadcast in Spanish.

and your point is? just because he has fans in south America doesn't make him a better nascar driver.

Hell yeah. I would love to see him run Indy/road courses/flat tracks in general in a Penske cup car.

So your point is that people in South America speak Spanish?

Someday , years from now , fans will realize that Nascar Racing has top ten drivers , top twenty drivers , to thirty drivers and top forty drivers . It will always be that way and all of them are incredibly important . Nascar is expremely competative and unfortunately there is only room in the first group for ten guys .Top notch drivers miss out on the top ten every year . Just the way it has to be. Didn't like Juan , but he was at least a top twenty driver.

Yeah, he has a very popular Twitter feed. I forgot where ranks in the list of most popular NASCAR drivers with Tweeter feeds, but he's up there, and about half his tweets are in Spanish. He's very popular with the Spanish speaking world, a lot of the fans have followed his whole career from CART to F1 to NASCAR.

Columbian Taco's?

I know, but he speaks Spanish so I've seen a lot of dumb NASCAR fans make taco jokes about him.
