Yeah, he is in 20th and could make 19th in points if he doesn't screw up anymore.

Well it's over now, 400 miles and he ended up where he started, in second place.

All the haters said he would fall way back. He was in the top 5 all race long.

It's gotten awful quiet in the Juan Pablo Montoya fan zone ever since the haters left (went to bash Kyle Busch I guess).

hmmmm he was always competitive at indy whatever he drove and I don't think anybody would bet against him at indy or a road course and until he starts being competitive on all the tracks I'll hold judgement

So Andy, are you ready to hand him the title already? Hmmm, one race won and another one he placed second. I guess you'll be pulling for him to win it all next year huh. What did 6 wins and a numbe of top 10's get Kahne this year?

I'd say that unless he wins the title this year, you'll probably be eating your own words next year. Just remember the words, "sophomore jinx".

Good luck to you and your man, but I'd give much more odds to your other man, Happy than Juan. :)

Montoya's a great driver and all the haters aren't bashing him anymore.

Did I say he would win the Nextel Cup? No.

He's a great driver and now you guys have nothing to say other than "He's 20th in points" or "He hasn't won a championship."

BTW ... how many wins did Jeff Gordon and Kasey Kahne get in their rookier seasons? ;)

Jeff Gordon was not a winning driver in any professional world-class series when he burst onto the NASCAR scene.
He also was not the condescending, ****y, arrogant little man that JPM is, either.
Gordon did, however win the Cup championship in his third full year in Cup, with 7 wins, 17 top 5's, and 23 top 10's and 8 poles. AND...he did it on the old point system. Also, Jeffy is 4th in the all-time win list since 1949 and is on top of the all-time money category.
So, as you see, it's WAY too early in his new endeavor to even compare JPM to Jeff Gordon.

So, you're another Gordon fan who hates Montoya.

Once again, I never said Montoya was better than Gordon statistically; but he's won in his rookie season and has more talent than you and the other JPM haters wish to give him credit for. You don't like him because he's hispanic I take it?

I don't have anything against JPM. I just don't like his attitude. On Sunday he did not show the attitude. He did not pull any bone head moves that wrecked another driver. He drove a good clean race. I can put up with him when he acts like he did on sunday.

I'm a fan of Ford (Roush) drivers, not a Jeff Gordon fan. I cannot , however, overlook the fact that Jeff Gordon is among the most talented, sucessful NASCAR drivers of all time.
I don't recall saying anything about the fact that JPM is hispanic.
A good example of why I don't care for JPM as a person is his arrogant, holier-than-thou attitude recently displayed here on this forum in a YouTube video wherein JPM, not looking where he was walking, slams into a camera man that was standing still and then verbally assaults the poor guy. Similar to some on track incidents involving (and caused by) JPM where he failed to and refused to accept blame.

And that's why the "JPM Haters" aren't out in full force. IMO it's not that he was ever hated it was that he kept taking out drivers with his bone headed moves. Now that he's learned his limitations he's just another middle of the pack driver who occasionally has a good race when it matches his abilities.

I compare JPM to a Jamie McMurray, although Jamie still ranks above JPM in the points standings. There is absolutely no comparison between JPM and Jeff Gordon or Tony Stewart.

There have been very few, if any, "I hate Montoya" posts on this forum but there have been a few people who said they do not care for or do not like, Montoya. These are (in most cases) followed by reasons, none of which remotely suggest racial overtones.

Comparisons between Jeff Gordon and Juan Pablo Montoya are fact and do not require illusions.

Juan Montoya is a talent who has come a long way in a short time. Montoya's aggressive driving style and arrogance have left a trail of destruction.
If Montoya's overall performance in the Indy 400 is an indication, his future in this sport could be a path of great success in NASCAR.

Lets not forget that 31 yr old JPM had many years experience before trying Nascar. It isn't like he was a young 20 yr old like Kyle Busch was when he started Cup. JPM will eventually be a fair driver in Nascar.

As far as comparisons go, you can compare all you want but Jeff and Tony are far better drivers than JPM in Nascar.

JPM came into Nascar described as a world class driver. OK, maybe, but I do believe that in the next five years Kyle Busch will have many more wins than JPM will have.

JPM is like any other rookie in cup...he is learning the ropes in a different sport than open wheel. Can you say ROTY?

Okay Andy, you've totally turned me into an avid JPM hater. Yes, I can now say that I'm hate Juan Pablo Montoya. Why? I guess it's because you have told me that I do, even though I've never looked at it this way. Seems as though if someone critizises a driver you "love", then they must by definition hate that guy. Okay, lable me as a JPM hater. Can't stand the kid and hope he wrecks out at all the races. Hey, though he can't by the rules, I wish that he couldn't even qualify at the races. Now does that fit your definition for me?

One thing about you and that is that you truely wear your emotions on your shirt sleaves. You should therefore be a Stewart fan, but from what I've read from you, you are a Tony hater.

Lighten up pal. We all know the ability that JPM has and we all also know of his personality. You like him, seems as though there are many who don't. If you want to brag on him, wait until he's done something to brag about. As for me, I'm a humble fan of Bill Elliott and Kasey Kahne, simply because he took over the #9 ride and is or was, doing pretty good.

Oh, and I don't hate any driver, though there are some that I don't like to see succeed. JPM is one of them.

Well there is 1 reason to hate him, as pointed out by the talking heads on Inside Nextel Cup. He's the only one with 3 names on the board. Everybody else seems to be able to get by with just 2... ;)
