Mopar & NASCAR

I remember talk that Mopar may be back in Cup after pulling out this year. Has anybody heard anything more on this??

They said they need a top factory team. I don't see any of the current big teams switching manufacturers at this time. A lot of the Mopar rumors seemed to mention the possibility of Andretti Autosport expanding to Sprint Cup but that too seemed to be a pipe dream.

I do like the look of this

IMO they have no one to blame for their absence but themselves. Until they make it a priority in the boardroom I don't expect to see them back any time soon. Chevy, Ford and Toyota take their commitments to their respective NASCAR teams very seriously...Dodge, Mopar, SRT motorsports; whatever you want to call them need to do the same. Just my 2 cents

They won't be back under Fiat ownership, so I don't see them coming back for a long time.

Welcome to the forum Bisondad . Great question and many problems . First , the company is owned overseas and the parent company doesn't seem interested. Second , if they came back , they would want to be competitive right away . That can't happen unless they can find a top five team with an engine program already in place .There aren't many of those . Third , every year they are out , they fall farther behind the existing manufacturers in aero , engine , etc. . I know nothing about it , but it seems like an awfully big mountain to climb.

They don't have Ray Evernham and a dump truck full of cash this time. It's too bad, I really thought the Penske Dodge engines were at the top of the sport when they left. I don't suspect we'll see them anytime soon.
