ESPN reportedly set to lay off more than 100 people post-Thanksgiving, many from SportsCenter

ESPN continues to struggle with a shift in consumer behavior, as cable and satellite subscriptions — a major source of revenue for its sports channels — erode.

Long a profit machine for Disney, ESPN has been squeezed by rising sports rights costs at a time when pay-TV revenue has been under threat because of cord-cutting. In 2010, ESPN was available in nearly 100 million homes in the U.S. Now, however, it is in about 87 million homes, according to Nielsen data.

With the exception of Disney World I would like to see the entire Disney empire fall to dust.
 
That MNF contract needs to be dumped. Almost $2b a year for eighteen less-than-thrilling matchups just isn't worth it. That's even more than what DirecTV pays for Sunday Ticket. It's insane. FOX currently pays the least out of the NFL broadcasters $1.1b/year and they get plenty of great content.

MNF has definitely lost a lot of its luster. The Sunday Night game is usually the premier prime time game now.

I am in complete agreement with this, including Star Wars, sorry Go Panthers, no love for SW from me.
 
ESPN won't be able to afford MNF when the contract is up, most likely MNF will be on the NFL network or Fox after the current contract expires.
