More evidence the testing ban is working

Aren't ARCA cars just retired Cup and NNS cars?

Many are retired Cup cars. Nationwide cars have a shorter wheelbase. The difference in engines is that in ARCA you can run a roller cam but in Cup it must be a flat tappet cam. Also, different rear spoilers also used on ARCA equipment. Other than that they are much the same...that is before the COT and now it is way different in so many ways. It will be interesting too see what ARCA does in a few years as far as converting to a COT type of car to be legal in ARCA. Once they do there should be a large surplus of cars from cup teams on the market.

From what I've heard, they're going to use the Cup COT chassis.

As much as it would hurt the lower budget teams, ARCA needs this ASAP and they need it more than NASCAR at least at Daytona, Talladega, Pocono and Rockingham.

By the time ARCA does something it will be at least 2011 at the earliest. By that time there will be plenty of stuff at the right price for even the smaller teams. They may not be able too update their entire fleet at once but it will be affordable. Some may not continue but the chance will be there.

The thing about the COT is you can take a short track car and race it at a superspeedway. I think the oddball is the road courses. I really wish ARCA would add one or two more road courses to make the cost of building and testing road course cars worth it.
