No surprise, but FOX Sports has bought the 14 remaining Nationwide Series races and 3 remaining Cup Series races and extended their deal from 2022 to 2024. FS1 got more Cup races than I expected.

Summary of FOX Sports’ Exclusive Rights (2015-2024):
• First 16 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points races of each season, including the Daytona 500
- Nine on FOX Sports and seven on FOX Sports 1
• First 14 NASCAR Nationwide Series points races of each season
- Fourteen races on FOX Sports 1
• NASCAR Sprint Unlimited, Budweiser Duel and NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race
• All NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races

In total, NASCAR will have the same number of NASCAR Sprint Cup races on network television – 16 – as it does in the current television package. FOX Sports will broadcast nine races and NBC will show seven.

16 races - but more rounded broadcast television coverage. It's not just the first half of the year.

Yeah, that should help Chase ratings a good bit. They're not fooling around with FS1 though. I really wasn't expecting an almost even split with their broadcast network for Cup races and every single Nationwide race.

I just noticed NBC Sports Network is now broadcasting 16:9 on their SD feed. And MavTV's now on DirecTV. MavTV airs A LOT of motorsports programming.

MavTV is getting into more homes. I have Time Warner Cable. At the 2012 IndyCar finale (which was sponsored by MavTV), it was on my TV guide, but you had to pay like $4.99 extra for it. Now, I magically get it with whatever packages I have.

I didn't hear of MAVTV until the IndyCar finale and never checked it out until just now. Looks good.

I sure am excited for FS1. I like SPEED for all the Nascar coverage, but really could do without all that original programming. Now with FS1 it is like the kept all the nascar content, but took all that other crap out and added other sports I like. However, I will keep an eye on how much MMA they show. I really hope it doesn't turn into the MMA network with live football, nascar, and baseball. FUEL which use to be an extreme sports station has pretty much turned into the MMA network. I assume FS2 will probably keep a lot of the content they already show.

That's what I'm afraid of. I guess that's the reason I don't enjoy MMA - it's always on. I could put a cage in my front yard and get two hillbillies to fight in it and FOX Sports would come televise it.

More sports, and diversity in sports, would be good. ESPN has too many talk shows and they air entirely too much basketball. FS1 is running the same risk with MMA.

I would say NBCSN should scale back on hockey but it's the only thing they've had prior to the Barclay's Premier League and NASCAR deals.

I'm a fan of MMA but the problem with it is the same as boxing used to be. the best fights are likely on ppv..

I don't care for alot of speed's original programming but I would hope that Fs1 would keep a Nascar highlight show like Nascar hub. You know Espn will drop Nascar now.

I will also miss the overseas motorsports esp. the V8 Supercars and Motogp.

With all these sport networks (ESPN, NBCSN, FS1, CBS Sports) I think live sports will be the premium. There are only so many talk shows to say the exact same thing every day. Do I really need ESPN's, NBC's, and FOX's take on training camps every day? Will people watch NFL Live and then switch the PROFOOTBALLTALK? Doubt it. Where these channels will live and die are in what live content they will and can show. There are only so many opinionated shows that people can take in. I am guessing this is why FOX leans towards MMA. There just is so much MMA content that isn't an opinionated show. Fights all over the world.

F*** ProFootballTalk. Florio's a ****ing moron.

All the new sports channels will face the same economics that ESPN does. It's really cheap to air two dudes arguing sports news. And it gets decent ratings.
Mornings NBCSN now simulcasts the Dan Patrick radio show. Afternoons it has hunting and fishing shows. And then it has it's ESPN clone shows in the late afternoon/evening. I expect the hunting/fishing shows to be kicked to the curb. Still a holdover from when it was Outdoor Life network.

The hunting and fishing shows aren't going anywhere. Maybe Sunday mornings in between F1 and NASCAR and weekday afternoons. They get huge (for NBCSN) ratings.

They better have Fs1 on my digital plus tier on Comcast or heads will roll!

$820 million per year in TV contracts is way up from the current $560 million per year. Every race will also be streamed live online. :whoopee:
