More Night Races
Another television-related item making the rounds through the NASCAR garage area the last several weeks is the shift of more races to prime time beginning in 2007, with the majority of the schedule moving to Saturday nights. Beginning with the August Bristol race, all but two of the remaining races on the 2007 schedule are expected to be held on Saturday night, avoiding the Sunday head-to-head conflict with NFL telecasts.(Racing One)

Guess this older lady will be taking more Saturday afternoon naps! :D

ehhh.....see sunday afternoons are lazy for me...perfect time to catch a race or football....im usually out with friends on saturday nights, therefore i dont watch anything on tv on saturday nights....i think moving a majority of the races away from sunday afternoon is going to be a bad idea...whats a guy to do on Sunday afternoons when football is over?!?!?!?!?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO dont take my lazy Sunday afternoon away from me!!!

hehe ok sorry about that.

Same here.... i like going out early sunday morning to breakfast with the wife, then read the paper, and goof off the rest of the day. Perfect day for a race in the afternoon, this idea doesn't fly with me, i'll have to record most of the races.

Local races take priority with this family. NASCAR has become just another series for us and our local scene is much more exciting, and is cheaper by a mile. This might be a good move by NASCAR, but only time will tell. I'm not sure that we will tape all of the races when this happens, but again, time will tell. I know that I will sure hate to see these races live and will more than likely listen to the end, if it's still running, on our way home from the track. This also, though we have generally decided that we wouldn't any more, will put a big problem for us to attend any of the big races because I work on Saturdays. I guess you can't stop progress, even if it's going in a direction that you don't care for.

I guess we feel pretty much the same Buckster.
NASCAR just may think it can't compete with the NFL for TV ratings, but I think it's a mistake to do what they are proposing.

Kat, the wife and I were talking just tonight about what we feel the future of NASCAR is and we both agree that while it isn't going in the direction that we would like to see it, NASCAR is no longer gearing their show for people like us. They are marketing almost all of the sport to the younger, hip hop generation in hopes that those who've been a fan will continue and that with the new marketing strategy, they will be able to grow their base. However, the one thing I'm not sure they are thinking of in the younger generations is that Saturday nights are the times to party and sitting in front of the TV is not what they call partying. It might work out fine for a while in the sports bars, but call it a hunch, but I think that much of the new fan base is more of a fad rather than a loyal bunch of fans.

I agree Buckster. Those of us who have followed NASCAR for so many years do not fit the demographics any more.

Hey, rolex series...a pointer or two?

I was thinking lets send the truck series to a road course or two..like the course at PIR or homestead or TMS (yes they all have internal road courses)

Wouldnt that be something to see? (at night no less)
