Steve Arpin has given up pursuing the ARCA Racing Series championship to run more races with JR Motorsports in car #88 in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. He will skip the ARCA races at Mansfield and Pocono to compete in the Nationwide races at Gateway and Iowa. Arpin will be competing in the ARCA race at Iowa on Saturday Night (which is televised at the same time as the NSCS race from Chicago). He will return to ARCA Racing Series competition in August, but would almost be eliminated from championship contention at that point.

Arpin is 9th in points. He was eliminated from a championship weeks ago. Besides, an ARCA championship never did anything for anybody that won it. Allgaier had a deal at Penske in hand with or without a title. Justin Lofton who is doing nothing in NASCAR CTS would have been there as well no matter who won last year.
