I realize that some people say some very offensive things, and that there is real bigotry and hatred in this country. But some people need to get a grip, grow a spine and maybe another layer of skin.

Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells was talking with the media after a practice session the other day. He was talking about his assistants having a healthy competition between them. In practice, he said, the defensive coach always tries to surprise the quarterbacks coach. The QB coach in turn always has a few "jap plays" to try to catch the defense off guard. He even prefaced it by saying something like "no offense to any orientals, but...".

I'm sure most people in the room knew exactly what he meant and didn't have a lower opinion of any japanese-americans after having heard that statement. Frankly, it's also not like Bill Parcells was incorrectly portraying the cowardly attack on Pearl Harbor in his comments.

But, still there was an immediate scandal being talked about. Bill Parcells issued a statement to the effect that he was sorry that people were offended and that he shouldn't have said what he said.

Have we really come to this?

Unfortunately, the anwser to that question is yes, protect everybody and everybody's elses feelings but our own. :dual9mm:

I've always figured if I said something that offended someone that they were the ones with the problem, not me.

And if it bothers you that much, you're welcome to step into the alley out in the back.

I'll join you as soon as I finish my next three of four beers.
That should give you plenty of time to think of excuses to explain how you got your little ol' candy ass whipped.

And just for general information: I ain't no damn bigot. I hate everybody, including myself!

:dual9mm: <_<

These comments from Larry Bird should get the PC police's attention also.

In a special that will air Thursday night at 7:00pm eastern I believe, Larry Bird had this to say while talking to Magic Johnson, Lebron James and Carmelo Anthony...

On needing more white superstars...

"I think it's good for a fan base, because, as we all know, the majority of the fans are white America," Bird said. "And if you just had a couple of white guys in there, you might get them a little excited. But it is a black man's game, and it will be forever. I mean, the greatest athletes in the world are African-American."

Bird was just warming up.

"The one thing that always bothered me when I played in the NBA was I really got irritated when they put a white guy on me," Bird said. "I still don't understand why. A white guy would come out (and) I would always ask him: 'What, do you have a problem with your coach? Did your coach do this to you?' And he'd go, 'No,' and I'd say, 'Come on, you got a white guy coming out here to guard me; you got no chance.' For some reason, that always bothered me when I was playing against a white guy."

"Disrespect," Magic said.

Said Bird: "Yeah, disrespect."

Hey, if somebody offends me to my face I smack'em!

I tend to get over the PC offenses real quick and put that junk in a special mind file so if that person ticks me off again, they're dang clode to my ignore list.
