Morgan-McClure Motorsports announced today the release of driver Jimmy Spencer, effective immediately. He began driving for the team earlier this year at the Samsung Radio Shack 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

"Over the past several weeks there has been a steady and gradual improvement in the Morgan-McClure racecar and Spencer has been an integral part of this drive for success. While his part has been greatly appreciated by everyone here at Morgan-McClure Motorsports, it has been decided, by mutual agreement, that it would be beneficial to both the team and to Jimmy Spencer to release him so that he may pursue other driving opportunities within the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series," Larry McClure, team owner, stated.

An announcement for his replacement in the No. 4 Chevrolet will be made before the Bass Pro Shops 500 race in Atlanta, Georgia this weekend.

On Sunday, Spencer was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting a public officer or interfering with officers serving a warrant on his son James Johnathan Spencer Jr.,

i wonder if there is a team that will pick him up for next year. personally id like to see him in a racecar.

I think he'd be great in the truck series, and very competitive too. :D

Two bits says that it was the arrest that did Jimmy in.
Nah, wouldn't that be descrimination?

HELL YEAH! Put him in trucks, this may somehow end up to be a good deal for Jimmy. Of course, I guess he won't take any of the open toyota rides, but I think he could raise some hell and win some races down there...I'd like to see that!

What ever he does, I'll support him!! :D Probably right about the arrest but, had the team done better this season my bet is that he would still be in the car. It really wasn't looking good for next season even without the Sunday deal. Trucks would be fun.........but, didn't I hear he was trying to get a Busch team together? That was near the last of last seaon, I think.

Seems to me that the trucks fill two different types of drivers. Those who are trying to make it big and those who are in the waning years of their careers. Jimmy would make a good truck driver, but he would also do well in the Busch series with a good car. In any event, Mr. Excitement will be missed by many people.

And nobody saw this coming????
Saw what? That the #4 team actually started showing signs of improvement? MM racing is a joke and just about everyone that has either left or been released from it has hinted that he is far far away from ever being an elite team like they used to be.
