Woke up and there was about a quarter inch of snow on the ground. :)

DEW, yes I just finished Red Rabbit last night, pretty good stuff, will have to read more Clancy.

Now I'm going to start on "D Day" by Stephen E. Ambrose, he wrote "Band of Brothers" which is a show on HBO now I think, which I haven't read.

Anyway...so what's the plan for the day?

Paul, send the snow down here. I'm tired of this 40 degree weather and rain...

Y'all do me a favor, and keep the snow until at least after I get moved, OK? It wouldn't make me mad if you kept it all winter, but at least through November would be greatly appreciated.

Well, we have a little over 2 inches here...took me 4 1/2 hours to drive 230 miles yesterday morning (snowpacked/black ice most of the way. It melted off during the day and only took 3 hours flat comin home last night. Projected high today...30. Looks like the winter is here :)

Is it early for snow in your area? October is definately pretty early for here.

This is about normal for Montana, though the past couple of years have been "abnormal" We haven't seen snow until the end of November, early December the past couple of years. It hasn't been a lot even then. I'm hoping this is the start of a long, heavy winter. We need to get the resovoirs filled back up, and the only way to do that is with a good solid snowpack.

And not to mention a few needed days hitting the bumps, I'm sure.

I miss it. :(

I take it your knee is fubar for good? There isn't anything they can do to getit back to normal..if you don't mind my asking?

It was a pretty bad break...all four ligaments inside were torn.

The way it happened was I was doing a 360 and I didn't get nearly enough air...when I landed my skis caught hard and my upper body kept rotating...came down to my side while my leg stayed stationary.

I did ski a few times afterwards but it was pretty scary, it felt like I had no leg. No support in the joint. And skiing, as you know, is all about your knees.

Have you tried using a brace? I don't if it would make a difference or not. If your knees don't "feel" like they are 100% it wouldn't be worth it (it's not nears as much fun whne you can't do what you want or in pain) It pretty much sucks all around.

The brace I have is from '93 when it happened. It's huge, clunky and uncomfortable.

Man, you're not making it easy on me to make up excuses. I should just get out there. :)

I would look into a new brace, I have a good friend who wears one on both knees just so he can water ski. If nothing else give it another try. If it works out great, if not, your out the cost of a knee brace.

........riding the lift to the top of the mountain, your breath visible in the chilly air. You slide off the chair and take right turn to the top of the hill. You pause for a moment to adjust your goggles and get a firm grip on your poles. With a little push you take off down the powder covered slope, first bouncing left, then back right. The fresh, white powder flies up and covers your exposed skin. As the snow instanlty turns to water you feel a thousand tiny needles pricking your cheeks....

:)

If that don't get you back, I don't know what will....plus, ski bunnies in them nice tight pants.....:D

This is the little area just a hour west of here....Projected opening November 29th!!

Haven't been, but I think I will this year. I just found out that my kid brother's fiance has a relative working at Big Sky here in MT. She can get us pretty much everything for free on the mountain. looking forward to taking advantage of that, Big Sky is probably the most expesive here in God's country. How long ago has it been since you were there?

I went around Colorado and Wyoming with my old man back when I was in high school.

9-10 years ago.

We have seriously got to get off the ski kick, I still have to wait at least a month before I get to go. I just ordered up a new rack for my Blazer though, can't wait to get to use it!!!

Head skis, Tyrolia Freeride 8 bindings, bought them new last year. Looking to get new boots this year. You?

Last pair I had were a pair of Rozzies, can't remember much about them. :(
