The mother of two NASCAR drivers and five other adults suffered minor injuries Saturday when their golf cart flipped over at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, officials reported.

Four people were transported to local hospitals as a precaution, but the mother of race-car drivers Kyle and Kurt Busch refused transport, Avondale Deputy Fire Chief Steve Ellsworth said.

Ellsworth said the driver of the customized six-passenger golf cart was coming down a hill in an access tunnel and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to flip.

Ellsworth said the golf-cart driver was not speeding at the time of the accident.

Kyle Busch won Saturday’s Dollar General 200 Nationwide Series race as part of this weekend’s NASCAR races at the track on 115th Avenue.

Kurt Busch tweeted Saturday afternoon that his mother was injured in a crash.

“Don't get in any moving vehicle w/ my mom,” Busch’s tweet read. “She was involved in a crash in the tunnel b4 the end of the race. She will be ok, just a little banged up.”

The 230-foot-long tunnel is built beneath the NASCAR track and allows easy access for race crews and fans to the infield and track.

Story along with video here.

Congrats to my little bro @KyleBusch 4 putting the @MonsterEnergy car in victory lane. Sorry I couldn't be there- mom too

@KurtBusch
that is what we've nicknamed her- crash. 3 car wrecks 1 golf cart in 9 months- none her fault

@KurtBusch
Thanks for all of the genuine nice thoughts & prayers for my mom. She will be ok, just a little banged up

I'm waiting for the golf-cart safety committee to chime in this morning.

Glad to read that she seems to be doing okay though.

Yeah, KuBu may be this or that but I seriously doubt he'd be making light if the situation were serious for any of them.

True enough.

I heard that when they went to interview her after her golf-cart crash, she had no comment and then left the track immediately.

Good for her. I almost feel bad for the media not getting the chance to twist her words for their own benefit ;)

A friend of mine was walking down the souvenir lane and heard the worst string of profanity he had ever heard . He followed the cursing to it's source and found Mrs. Busch in one of the boys souvenir trailor defending him over some on track incident. The apples don't fall far from the tree , he said.

Is that true?

Looking at the slope going into the tunnel, I can see how just a little cross-up of the steering would send a cart over. That's rather steep and those carts were whistling right along.

The rumor is Mrs. Busch has already contacted an attorney and has filed a suit aginst EZ-GO... :p

I'm surprised that the batsh!t crazy scumbag corrupt sheriff they have around there didn't have her arrested.
