What do you like in a movie introduction? What about a documentary?

My friend and I are trying to develop a surprise (more or less) documentary for UTA's 25 year in FSAE competition. We're trying to decide what to use as an introduction.

I personally think "eye of the tiger" would be good, but it's so overused it's not even funny.

My friend like how the stick and ball sports usually do it by playing a soothing music while showing game scenes. We can't do it because it would give away the storyboard.

We don't do "pit stops" per se, so something like that, put to music, is out of the question.

My suggestion was to do something with the sound of a car taking off from a dead stop. But i'm not sure what we could do with it.

Anybody have any ideas?

my suggestion to you is to try the music from the movie The Cutting Edge 1 (their program music for the olympics)

also instead of using eye of the tiger try
coldplay viva la vida

let me know what you think.

Check out "So Much For The Afterglow" by Everclear. It's got kind of a strange but attention grabbing slower intro that builds. Then it just busts into a crunching rock tune. It might work for you. Just a thought. Here's a youtube clip of the song with a wierd cloud thing going on.

when i took ballet for 4yrs we did a routine on pointe to Metallicia's No Leaf Clover.(it was our version of sugar plum faireys)
might want to try that song on stumble video

ok, what we kinda decided is we're gonna use Wake by linkin park because it's short for the introduction, and autobahn by Kraftwerke for the DVD menu. But thanks for the names, they may get used elsewheres in the doc.

Do yourself a favor Mag and send a short letter to linkin park and Kraftwerke asking for copyright releases. Chances are they'll give you one for free if you state the purpose (non-profit documentary for UTA) and brief sketch of the documentary. RIAA and some bands are known for suing people that use their material without getting proper releases. The last thing anybody needs is a lawsuit when it can be avoided. You should also mention the bands names in the credits of the documentary.

You've probably already thought of this but just in case. :)

the plan was to have the name of the band at the bottom right ("MTV style") then again in the credits at the end.
