MTV Music Awards

I am the biggest music fan I know. I have not watched ANY awards show of any type since Metallica got shafted for the Grammy in favor of Jethro Tull.
 
That was a definite low point. Close behind was Milli Vannilli(sp) winning best new artist for lip syncing.
 
I just hope to hell that Junior won't be presenting again this year. That was the only reason I watched it last year and, while I enjoyed looking at him, I wish he wouldn't do stuff like that. It only adds to his bad reputation in the sport. :rolleyes:

BUT HE GO PAID BIG FOR IT THOUGH! At least he didn't introduce some R&B artist or a RAPPER!
 
I will miss them but just bc I have class! I am taping it!! The VMA's are always pretty good!!

I'd take a good R&B artist over stupid Linkin Park any day of the week.

Girl, Linkin Park has some of the best new music out there right now. You need to get with the program.;) And I'd much rather see Jr. introduce Linkin Park than some crappy R&B artist. I'm sure he'd much rather as well. I bet Jr. jams Linkin Park all the time.

Since I don't watch award shows, for what Grammy did Jethro Tull beat out Metallica?

Not a big Metallica fan myself, but I did think that Jethro Tull's "Aqualung" was one of the finest albums ever. But I don't consider these two groups to be of the same genre.

Which is precisely why so many people were upset, HS.

When the Grammys FINALLY decided to recognize heavy metal with a Best Heavy Metal Album catagory, the nominees were Metallica, AC/DC, Jethro Tull and I disremember the rest. Tull won, for an album that nobody even knew had been released. Tull was even ashamed to accept it, and in fact didn't even show up. They accepted it with a terse press release stating that, while honored, they didn't feel they deserved the award. The following year, when Metallica did win it, they thanked Jethro Tull for NOT releasing an album that year.

Tell ya what, you keep me filled up with Darlington stories, and I'll hip ya on some tunes. Deal? :D

Actually glad that Ian acted that way with the award deal. I have always thought him to be a unique and fascinating person. Like I said not a "heavy metal" fan, kinda country with a lot of southern rock and stuff mixed in. Despite that there are some albums the I really like in almost every genre.

Im sure you've played the desert island album (CD now, I suppose) game.
 
I have indeed. It really don't matter how many I'd be allowed to take, I'd still miss some!
 
I'll be watching, but only for the commercials. Heard there might be a new commercial for LOTR: Two Towers during the broadcast and don't want to miss seeing it. :)
 
I ended up noit haviong class today and well the VMA's stunk this year IMO i missed about the middle 45 minutes of it but it still stunk.

Gun's and Roses was horrible nothing like they used to be. And alot of Lip Singing i thought. You could barley(sp) hear the music over any of the songs execpt Pink( I like her shes cool). What was up with the video as well it looked wierd compared to the normal i wounder if they showed it with high Definiton(sp) cameras or something.
