Martin, Vickers, Waltrip continue to share #55 in 2013: Mark Martin, Brian Vickers and Michael Waltrip will continue to share the driving duties in Michael Waltrip Racing's #55 Toyota in 2013. MWR announced Friday that Martin will drive in 24 NASCAR Sprint Cup points races, plus the Budweiser Shootout in Daytona and the All-Star race in Charlotte. Waltrip's three races include the July Daytona race plus both Talladega races. Vickers' nine races include all the Bristol, Martinsville, New Hampshire and road course events, as well as the Kentucky Speedway race. "I love my schedule and I love our lineup," said 40-time winner Martin whose four poles in 2012 equal the most of any driver. "Brian has a tremendous amount of experience and talent for such a young driver and you saw at Talladega that Michael Waltrip is as good as anyone in a restrictor plate race." Martin and Waltrip will continue to drive the Aaron's Dream Machine paint scheme in 2013 while sponsorship for six of Vickers' nine races is available.(MWR)(10-26-2012)

I think if Brian can continue keeping his head on straight, he'll be in the 55 car full time in 2014. There's not a whole lot of options out there that are competitive so at least he'll have chances to win and show he deserves a full time ride. IMO he's the most improved driver out there.

A lot of fools haven't.

Vickers has and he only had to move to cars two do it. He'll do OK as long as he can keep Kenseth from wrecking him 7 times a year ;)

Edit: Gawd, I've turned to sarcasm - the lowest form of wit

I thought that was puns?

Gluck wrote a story with quotes from Vickers stating that he expects to be full time in the 55 in 2014.

If Vickers wins tomorrow, it could get interesting. But there's no way Michael Waltrip will step aside for four races so he can have a driver win a championship. The world revolves around Michael Waltrip.

As for tomorrow, Vickers has a damn good racecar.

Ah , Andy , wouldn't Mark Martin have to step aside too ? And wouldn't Vickers have to win a lot of races to win the championship?

Vickers put on a pretty good show yesterday, as did Bowyer. Waltrip has their short track program together, at least well enough to rub fenders with Hendrick all day.

I would love to see MWR put a top driver in the 55 full time. Not knocking Bowyer, Truex and Vickers . MWR has come a long way in a short time.

What would Bowyer have to do to be considered a 'top driver'?

The #55 drivers this year:
Mark Martin-21 races, 4 top 5s, 9 top 10s, 195 laps led
Brian Vickers-8 races, 3 top 5s, 5 top 10s, 158 laps led
Michael Waltrip-4 races, 0 top 5s, 1 top 10, 21 laps led

Vicker's Vap-O-Rub still might land a full-time Nationwide ride for 2013. He would be a natural full-time driver for MWR in 2014 if Mark and Mikey hang it up.

I think it's a brilliant move on the part of MWR. Mark hates destructor plate racing while Mikey can't win anything but plate races. And Vickers is good on short tracks and road courses - but so was Mark in his prime!

This might have something to do with the South Australian engineer by the name of Nick Hughes that is employed by the team.
