MWR to two teams? to lose UPS? Toyota is expected to pair down Michael Waltrip racing from a three-car effort to a two-car squad, shifting some of that support to JGR's three-car team of Kyle Busch, Tony Stewart and Denny Hamlin. Dale Jarrett is said to be seriously considering retirement, trading in his helmet for a microphone as a television analyst, which would leave MWR with Michael Waltrip and David Reutimann. There has been talk that UPS, unhappy with the lack of exposure the company has received this year from Jarrett's struggles to make races, is looking at other teams for 2008 sponsorship with Roush Fenway Racing a target, possibly for Greg Biffle's #16 entry.(RacingOne)(8-8-2007)

Huh so Joe Gibbs will definetly be fielding Toyotas next year? I don't beleive it until i see the official news release. As far as Mikeys getting down to 2 cars i think that has been his problem all along. Running 2 makes much more sense and DJ retiring makes a lot of sense too, he is great in the booth. Kyle Petty, DJ, and jerry punch would make a great group to call a race.

I think that's why JGR told HOF Racing that they would have to seek engines elsewhere next year.
The reason JGR hasn't made an official announcement is because of the clause in their GM contract that says they are not allowed to have discussions with other manufacturers until the GM contract expiers...

Yeh i read that too about the clause thing....Tony in a Toyota, i don't know ...just doesn't fit for some reason.

UPDATE: on Wednesday's NASCAR Now [ESPN2] Angelique Chengelis reported that Michael Waltrip Racing's Ty Norris said there was absolutely no morsel of truth to the rumor about MWR scaling back to two teams or Dale Jarrett leaving, plus Norris was at a UPS Sponsor summit and that UPS says things are going well.(8-9-2007)

Things are going well? How could that be?

They're making races. That's an improvement from a few races back. Next they need to work on finishing races. Then on finishing races in the top 30 and then top 20.
So yeah I see improvement in MWR.
