In approximately 5 hours my wife, son and I will be heading to Charlotte for a few days. Expect to see several pictures posted from my phone along the way. I apologize in advance for subjecting you all to my ugly mug but I am probably better looking than Kyle Busch so I don't think anyone will suffer any permanent scars.

The distance from our home to The Embassy Suites Charlotte Hotel is about 675 miles and I expect about a 10.5 hour trip. Google directions says 11.5 hours but I drive 79mph on the highway.

So I need to pack a few more items and try to grab a few hours of sleep.
 
Have fun with the family. I'll be rooting for you from my wheelchair. ;)

Just looked at your route on mapquest . That's quite a drive . Not much divided highway either . Looks like some pretty country though . Wish I was going to be home to follow your progress . But I'm off to work. Check in during gas stops and pee breaks . Let us know where you are . Don't let that gps route you into some snow covered mountain pass.

I think Matt is bracing for that long drive. Be safe, and get there when you get there.

I just realized that Aiden's pillow case is the only NASCAR related item in the car.:eek:

Dad and Son at the track together is some great stuff. My dad would explain who looked to have the best set ups at the short tracks between practice times, and problems he detected. If a motor was going south he would tip me off in advance to listen to it as they passed by, it was fun.

I am betting you are 10 feet tall in your sons eyes too, and you will be teaching him all about it this weekend. That as cool as anything I can imagine at the moment.
 
Aiden has been to MIS on 13 different occasions (I first took him to a a Cup practice when he was 3) and I took him to the CWTS and NW events at Chicagoland last fall (we missed the Cup race due to rain) so he's a veteran of big time NASCAR racing. So far this year I've taught about tight and loose as well as drafting. I got up behind a semi on the highway and had him put his hand out the window. Then I pulled out of its draft. It added to my heroic stature in his eyes. He's been more attentive than ever during the.Cup and NW this year so I hope he's really into the racing this weekend.
 
I just got a call from my employer notifying me that my department has been eliminated and will be outsourced to India. Nice.

A move to India would be quite educational for you and your family. Kinda hard to make it to NA$$CAR races, however.

Seriously, though, that sucks! Well, Mang, don't worry about it now! You have more important things - like big-time auto rassin - to focus on!

I'm just stunned. I feel like Ice Cube on Friday when he got fired on his day off.

Looks like unemployment checks and lots of sunshine are in store for the next few weeks.:)
 
Traveling with a woman adds 20% to overall travel time. And this one can't drive for sh!t. Cruise control? What's that? Oooohhhh that's pretttty....Hey! Watch the road!

Nerves are shot. LOL
