I had the opportunity to install central air when I bought this place. But I didn't. My bad.

Our bedrooms have window a/c units. Looking at stand alone portable a/c units like this:

http://www.homedepot.com/Appliances...splay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&storeId=10051

Pros/Cons This will be for the kitchen/dining area, two sliding windows plus a 8 foot slider to the deck and living room, 10 foot bay window sliders on each side. No regular sash type windows that a normal a/c unit would fit in.

This little tid-bit caught my eye under product description

Looks like you need a window for the vent.
Yep there is pictures in the "customer reviews section" showing it being vented outside.Looks like you going to have to get like a doggy door setup for your sliding glass door to vent it outside.

My cousin has a portable and the part where the intake/exhaust attach will extend vertically to fit a sliding glass door. I have no idea of the make/model but will find out tomorrow if I can and get back to you.
