It is the ship my nephew Nick is currently serving on in the Persian Gulf. The USS Valley forge.
 
That's great 4x. Nick is lucky to have an uncle that supports him like you do. My prayers are with you and your family!

Cool avatar. I couldn't imagine being on one of those bad boyz. Was on one once when I was a little tite. Sure it was much smaller than that. The ship was a floating commissary from what I remember (was about 4). I was a military brat at the time.

Want to tour some ships while in VA a few years ago but timing and weather (to frigin hot) didn't cooperate.
 
Very kool! At least it's not a moving kinda avator...I don't like being sea sick :D
 
cool pic! do you know what his job is on the ship? i actually have two friends who just joined the Navy..

Thanks for asking. Yeah I just talked to his dad last night. He is still doing intelligence work. He intercepts enemy communication then translates it and then sends the information farther up the food chain to be used. Very Cool, eh?! I think so. Believe it or not, that is exactly what I was supposed to do in the Army before I failed my physical. If it is the same as the Army job I was slated for he is also involved in interrogation when needed.
