The picture in my avatar is the new home my wife and I plan to begin building in a few weeks. The only thing in our way right now is an appraisal for the loan. If it is what we need it to be, we will hopefully be framed in by Christmas and moved in by february or march of 2005. I will hopefully keep you guys and girls posted on our progress. :)

4x, is that a log house? Looks great, but can they put it up that fast, with the weather and all?

My dad lived in a log house in Utah. One thing he learned, make sure the caulking between the logs is in place. My stepmom once went to the bathroom and the snow had blown in and was mounded on the toilet seat. ROTFL

Keep us posted with the progress, 4x. :)

Building a house can be so exciting 4X. Hope to see lots of pictures as it progresses!

That is nice 4x ... can't wait for the updates.

Best of luck with the building process of it.

Sorry for the confusion, but that is not a log house. Although the picture does kind of look like that. I heard about something called "radiant heating" that seems like a pretty cool idea. In essence you run tubes through your floor that conduct a heated water, eliminating forced air. It seems pretty cool, but I haven't gotten too much information yet.

You guys know anything about it?

I thought it was a log home too. Good luck with the house.

4x i been in a few homes with it. cheaper and better heating for sure.

I can't figure out how to post a bigger picture on here under the new system. But if you click on my profile you should get a much better look at it. Then just imagine it blue and you will pretty much have it.

All I see in your avatar is a picture of that dadgum Gordon feller.

But best of luck on your project. I'd never in a million years tackle anything that monumental. Bob Vila I ain't.

my parents are currently building a house with radiant heating.

hope you have as much fun with yours as the wife and i have had with our cabin in the Mts. we have been working everyweeked for about a year on it and we can see the light at the end of the tunnel now. if you need anything let me know i have learned a hell of alot about being your own contracter/builder.
