Met MagnetHead and majestyx as agreed. Had a great visit for about an hour! Can you believe, maj had a camera but neither of us even thought about taking a picture! Guess we were having a "senior moment."

MagnetHead and his dad are the nicest people.

Now as to the rest of the weekend ---

Friday was windy as hell. Thought my hair was going to blow right off my head. Q'ing was interesting, with Cup and Busch going off back to back. The wind had to have an effect on the cars because it was so strong. Decided not to stay for the truck race --- got back to the hotel in time to watch it on TV.

Saturday was hot, but at least the wind wasn't in my face all day --- it was on the back of my neck! Truex and Bono really had a problem getting the car sorted out all day --- in fact, they never did. Martin really, really hates the bump over the tunnel in Turns 1 & 2. Said that there couldn't be anything left under the car to hit. They were alternately tight and loose --- just couldn't hit the middle.

Sunday was a blast. Watching car after car rim ride the turns and the 3-wide racing was a lot of fun. Dale Jr told Tony Jr that he could drive the car --- Tony said he'd take half and Dale could have the other half. Tight was the word of the day. During a radio interview, Dale said that he tells Tony what he needs and Tony makes the changes. He said that Tony doesn't tell him everything because he's probably better off not knowing. :)
The weather was absolutely perfect --- not too hot or windy. It was cool in my seats, but not so much that I had to put on the jacket.

Traffic in was a bit of a slow snail's pace, but I whipped right out and was gone in 20 minutes.

And, for those who like to eat ----ROTFL
Friday had lunch at Olive Garden -- Seafood Primavera -- mussels, shrimp, and scallops with a garlic butter sauce over pasta. Supper was a burger from Braum's.

Saturday lunch was excellent chicken tenders at the track. Dinner was Olive Garden -- crab and shrimp stuffed ravioli with a garlic sauce with shrimp in it.

Sunday breakfast was at IHOP -- since the race started late, we decided a big breakfast was in order. Lunch was at the track --- Subway sandwich wasn't too bad. Didn't have much of a dinner because it was so late.

Thanks TRL. I actually thought about grabbing a picture, but knew i was in a war with both our our cameras' batteries and space. (Turned out i had 1 minute left om my camera when the checkered flew, my dad's camera ran out of space with 20 to go).

Well, as TRL said, I had my camera hanging around my neck!!! And, had plenty of room and extra batteries to get a picture. Just forgot all about it once we got to talking! It was really nice to meet you both! Had a wonderful time talking, and then it was on to watch the race! TRL is right, the weather was absolutely wonderful! I'm glad that I packed a variety of clothing, as Saturday was definitely warm. Wound up wearing a tank top and shorts! And, it was 87* in November!!!

I have still never understood why Nascar won't let the drivers practice the cars in the time periods in which the race will be run. I have to agree with TRL that the wind did have a LOT to do with the qualifying, with the exception of Ryan Newman. He just made a real bonehead move to take the second lap. The race was fantastic! I kept listening to Jeff, and he was saying that he couldn't get the car to turn left if he was in a parking lot! And, Jimmie, he and Chad were just playing it safe, but his car was tight for most of the race too. The funniest person that I listened to on the scanner was Casey Mears! He was getting pretty pissed at Ryan Newman, and even went so far as to tell his spotter to relay the message that if Ryan didn't quit trying to wreck him and get out of his way that he was gonna kick his arse! Oh, and his (Casey's) spotter is a riot! He had hubby and I laughing so hard that we were crying! Most of what was said can't be repeated, tho'. :D

lol maj. Yea, my dad doesnt understand that either..cup shoulda been practicing AFTER the busch race, not before it. Then again, look at nascar overall. Does much of anything make much sense?
