My thoughts on the upcoming 2005 NASCAR season

With some of the driver changes, and crew changes... retire'n drivers, and 2nd season with "the chase"...

This season seems (to em) to be one of major growth for NASCAR.

Heck, they are now allow'n the Whiskey sponsors in now... (the season AFTER they let the tabacco company that helped make NASCAR what it is now, go... due to the fact they still can't advertise)

I'm looking for an awsome season outta Jeff Burton this season... and, in turn, a much better season from Harvick in the process. Kevin will have an elder driver to look up to and talk to this season... something he has never really had. :p

I see a slightly bumpy road for the #8 team of Dale Earnhardt Jr. atleast in the beginning of the season. Let's remember now, the season is "short" now that the chase is in... so, he's gotta get caught up REALLY quick.

Here's hope'n for Kahne to get his first win!!! and get it before Kyle Busch does! I'm really hope'n that the 19 and 9 come out of the box, ready to kick some tail this season. They are poised to make a huge ripple in the "elite" club... and move in with the RCR's DEI's and HMS's of the NASCAR world!!

Did anyone notice that the shootout didn't have a lot of passing...? Mostly due to the new plates. I hope that isn't the case in the 500.

but over all, I hope and pray for a healthy, injury free NASCAR season.

Good luck to all the drivers!! (just a lil less luck for some.. and a bit more for others) and we'll see for Daytona on Sunday!! :beerbang:

Add your thoughts, ideas, and opinions here! :)

I think the #8 will be fine - in fact, I think I've mentioned on this board last year about the driver/crew chief on the #8 team and I hold to my believe that Eury Sr. intentionally ran DEJr. out of gas. The #15 with Waltrip/Eury Jr is, IMHO, the team to worry about for DEI fans.

I don't see Burton and Harvick getting along all that well and I'll bet it starts with Daytona.

Johnson is being touted as the odds-on favorite to the win the cup - I'll believe that when I see it. There can't be two cup winners in one year - no matter if they're on the same team or not and Gordon can't be so accommodating to his team mates if he plans on winning a 5th.

Rousch needs to find something for these plate races and I don't mean Biffle painting the wall every other lap. Kenseth received his nice guy pass two years ago and needs to step it up in the last ten.

Dodge needs to do something better this year or go back to building Omnis and K-cars. They've got the engines, crew chiefs and the drivers - now let's see what they can do with it. I'd think Wallace wants to go out with a bang and winning next weekend would be a heck of a start. McMurry looked pretty strong at the end of last year and may be the guy to carry the Dodge flag.

It should be interesting to see how R.Gordon handles his OWN gear (and temper) on the track. I know he and Harvick have some scores to settle and Childress can't mediate this year.

Finally, Sadler should be more of contender in more races and maybe win 3/4.

Thanks for listening.

Patrick, you think the #15 with Eury Jr will be a team to recon with? cuz, if that's what you're say'n I thought I was the only person who thought that.

and yeah, I believe Sadler will be huge this season.

I'm not hand'n the Championship over to anyone... it's way to far up in the air. But, I honestly hope it's not either of the 2 people that you mentioned, that everyone wants.. cuz, I don't. ;) hehe

Actually, Alverez, I was thinking more along the lines of a personality clash. My personal opinion of the Eurys is not that high - not that it makes any difference :) and maybe Eury Jr. will be the Nascar champion crew chief.

That being said, best of luck to Waltrip and his team.

To clarify things - I am no fan of those two either but I'm trying to be realistic. The only interest I have in HMS is how Terry LaBonte is doing.
