Nadeau injured himself in a go-kart race yesterday evening and injured his ribs, Nascar.com said.

It's a shame he got injured, but I'm glad he's alright. Now the #44 is going to have to find a replacement driver quickly, so I wonder who will be in the car this weekend.

Please not Buckshot, please not Buckshot... *crosses fingers*

Pretty short notice to find a driver. Be interesting to see who they can find especially with the BGN folks off in Memphis already.

I must be losing it. My first thought when I saw the thread title was " Who in the dickens is Miss Martinsville?":D

Steve Grissom will drive Petty Enterprises’ #44 Georgia-Pacific Dodge at Martinsville, Va., this weekend.

Jerry Nadeau, who had been driving for the NASCAR Winston Cup team since mid-July, was injured in a go-kart accident late Thursday, and his rib injuries have sidelined him.

"Steve has done a great job for us before and he has good Winston Cup experience," said Kyle Petty, CEO of Petty Enterprises. "Martinsville has been a good track for him, and we think he will do a great job for us and Georgia-Pacific. We really appreciate him stepping in and helping us out so quickly."

Grissom has Petty Enterprises’ best short-track finish this season, taking eighth at Richmond, Va., in May.(Williams Company PR)

When will these guys figure out they need to quit running other series? I know they are racers but could this hurt his chances at the full time ride with P.E.?

HardScrabble,

Maybe you saw Miss Martinsville because that is what RPM initially typed as his thread. I had to correct him in his early morning stupor and alert him to him missing a keyword.

Anyway, it's a shame Jerry has to miss the race. I don't know how this will hurt his chances for next year or not. He might not even be with P.E. next year. I at least hope he can find a ride.

Grissom was in the car for awhile earlier this year, I wonder how he will do.

On one hand I would agree with you that the WC drivers should focus on their WC duties. It's not fair to the teams if they are hurt. On the other hand though these guys eat sleep and breathe Nascar, if they need to drive something else to blow off steam then they should be able too. I mean let's face it, they could get hurt getting out of the shower in the morning. You have to be able to do what makes you happy....nuff said

mlite I agree with ya on this one.

Racers seem to have a need to compete. They'll race uphill on a skateboard for a coke if ya challenge them. They also seem to have need to get out there on the edge amongst the demons as well. If not racing, they'll find the outlet on a motorcycle, a set of skis, in an airplane, something, anything.

Stifling this urge might well be as risky as the undertakings they are drawn to.

The concern is legit and sound reasoning would seem to dictate eliminating or at least severely curtailing these activities. Reason does not always apply however.
