Former NASCAR spokesman Chip Williams, who represents several drivers through his own company, was arrested Tuesday on rape charges involving an 11-year-old girl.

Williams was arrested in Greensboro and faces one count of statutory rape, first-degree rape offense of a child and solicitation of child by computer to commit an unlawful sex act.

The first two counts relate to the 11-year-old girl who is now 15, said Guilford County Sheriff BJ Barnes. The last count resulted after Williams met with an undercover police officer Tuesday in a church parking lot, thinking he was meeting a 14-year-old girl, Barnes said.

More charges, including federal ones, are expected, said FBI spokesman Ken Lucas.

Williams is at Guilford County Jail under a $1 million bond.

Williams worked for NASCAR from 1982 until March 1, 1994, when he resigned to start his own business. Williams Company of America Inc. currently represents drivers such as John Andretti, Kyle Petty and Bobby Labonte.

What a sick prick.

no kidding..bet them few drivers are pissed as hell...'specially Kyle!

There are really some effed up people in this world. What a sick-o

That is really discusting!!
Hope he didn't spend much time around the camp.:(

Eleven years old! He (or she) should be shot on the spot! No trial, don't even take him (or her) outside...just shoot the sob! What is it that drives these people? I have been watching the stings that the NBC crew has been making. I am amazed at what they are actually able to get on film.
For such a small normal act that is so easy to obtain nowadays why in the hell do they prey on our children?
I do understand sex with SOME 15 yearolds... but 11? or in some cases even 6, 7 or 8 yearolds.. Yep! Shoot the sob's right there on the spot.

They should put this guy in a Ford Pinto with a full gas tank sitting on the backstretch at Daytona as the field comes at him...ah that's too good for him...

forget a pinto..how bout a chevy sprint or maybe "crash-test" a newer chevy car on the track and use him as a test dummy..

They should simply handcuff him and turn him over to the child's parents and allow them to do whatever they deem necessary.

why bother with a car at all...just put him out on the freeway during rush hour..that ought to do it.

Another example as to wht torture should be allowed in this country.

NBC DATELINE will air a new child predator sting at 9:00 Eastern tonight.. I saw the previews a few minutes ago, these guys are a menace. Seems 49 of them came in a 3 day period thinking they were seeing 12 and 13 yearolds.. boys as well as girls. All were arrested upon leaving the house.. and then booked.
Seems the maximum in California is a 4 year sentence for these criminals.

Rediculous, what in the hell is going on? The world is going to scum, that's all there is to it. That is completely stupid, what an absolute low life.

Needs to be more than that, this is just sick.

Georgia currently has a 10 year minimum, BUT a new law that has passed the House will make the MINIMUM sentence 25 years and the perverts will have to wear a monitor FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIFE

Looks like he may have solicted up to 50 kids...this is sick....im about sick to my stomach....apparently this dude lives about 5 miles from my parents house.

Net soliciting case
may include 50 kids

The case against former NASCAR spokesman Richard "Chip" Williams, arrested last week in an Internet child-predator sting, could involve more than 50 children, according to court documents.

The possibility of multiple victims was raised by a 14-year-old girl Williams is charged with raping.

The girl told police she had been having sex over the past three years with a man she knew as "John Wisham" -- the identity police say Williams used online.

The girl told authorities John Wisham had chatted with her from all over the United States. An affidavit adds that the man claimed "to have been with over 50 children in various forms of sexual exploitation."

Williams' attorney, Locke Clifford, said Williams' response can be summed up in one word.

"Hogwash," the Greensboro lawyer said.

The details surfaced in the affidavit, which was part of a search warrant a Guilford County sheriff's detective sought last week so police could search Williams' Mooresville home and business.

Police later seized at least 140 items, including multiple computers and discs.

Guilford officials on Tuesday said they are still investigating but declined to elaborate.

It's not unusual for such cases to involve multiple victims, said Janis Wolak, a researcher at the University of New Hampshire's Crimes Against Children Research Center.

She said some studies show that sex offenders with a strong preference for children from specific age groups will often prove to be highly motivated and have multiple victims.

One study she co-authored found that about one in five children receive sexual solicitations or approaches from people they meet online, usually in chat rooms or by instant messages.

Many times children are approached by other children, but researchers say adult predators also frequent child-oriented chat rooms and slip into teens' instant message groups. They can send mass instant messages to multiple teens.

Most won't reply, Wolak said, but a few might.

In the affidavit, Detective George Moore outlines the electronic trail police followed in arresting Williams. The case started with the 14-year-old girl, who told how she began performing sex acts for Wisham when she was 11.

Moore said he was shown an online conversation between the girl and Wisham in which Wisham "gets extremely explicit" about sex acts the girl had performed for him.

Under Moore's supervision, the girl went online and chatted with Wisham on Jan. 19, the affidavit said. Wisham "once again became very explicit with the victim and talked freely about wanting to have numerous sexual exploits with very young males and females."

That same day, a computer examiner used one of Wisham's e-mails to recover his computer's Internet Protocol, or IP, address. Every computer on the Internet has at least one IP address that uniquely identifies it from all other computers.

The next day, Moore obtained a judge's order asking Alltel, the company to which the IP address belonged, to identify the subscriber using the address at the time the e-mail was sent.

On Jan. 24, the girl met Wisham online again. This time she introduced an undercover officer, who posed as a 15-year-old girl.

Shortly into the conversation, the affidavit says, Wisham started talking about sex.

After several more online chats between the undercover officer and Wisham, police traced Wisham's e-mails to Williams Company of America. Williams, 48, represents several race-car drivers through the Mooresville company.

He was arrested last week after police found him driving through the parking lot of a church where Wisham had agreed to meet the undercover officer.

He is charged with one count of statutory rape, two counts of first-degree sex offense of a child and one count of solicitation of a child by computer to commit an unlawful sex act.

Williams, who lives on Babbling Brook Road in Mooresville, was being held Tuesday in a Guilford County jail. His bond was doubled to $2 million last week, a jailer said.

He was NASCAR's spokesman from 1982 to 1994, when he resigned to start his own business.

Muggle has posted a VERY IMPORTANT link for us, and I think it should be stuck!

So much for innocent until proven guilty. Don't get me wrong, I was the first to run a known pedo outta town here, but a police sting isn't always proof of intent. I'll wait to hear the gavel before I demand his scrotum nailed to a board.

Now, anyone wanna talk about how the female molesters are getting away with time served and house arrest?

Perfessor, you are so right. This forum is no different than most other places in that when someone is arrested, or indicted or even charged with a crime, they are guilty as charged with the majority. This guy no doubt has enough evidence against him that he will have a very hard time getting off, if indeed he tries, but one thing I've learned here is you better hope that you aren't accused of doing something that the majority doesn't like.

Just a little history from my point of view. Many years ago, on another forum, way before the internet was even a familiar place to congregate, I was tight with a bunch of fellow race fans on a similar forum based with Prodigy. We had a really tight little group that for the most part consisted of about 20 or 30 people, but like here, people could come and go. It's there that I was able to chat with people such as Butch Miller, a driver who was trying to gain entrance in the NASCAR series and Judy Wallace, Rusty's mother. This little family as we liked to be called, had everything from growing up from snot nosed teenagers to older members dying. We had members fall in love and marry (I was one of them) to fanatics who committed suicide. One of our members was convicted of child molestation and he was a great friend of many of us, me included. It wasn't just himself, but his wife was also convicted. While that conviction took most of us by surprise, most of us treated it just as it probably would have been here, with contempt for the guy and lots of ugly responses and other accusations. I was particularly close to this guy and I just couldn't let it go as it seemed and I had to find out his story. It took time, because he was in jail, but I was able to get his side of the story and though I believed him, I also thought that what he did was totally out of line, not to mention against the law.

All I'm trying to say is that even though I eventually cut off all talks with this guy, I waited until there was proof in front of me before I cast any stones his way. He was and still is a complete jerk and a person that I believe should spend the rest of his life behind bars, but I'm not going to pass any judgement on anyone until I or at least a jury or judge has heard the evidence and has made a decision. If it happened to me, maybe then I could cast aspersion first, but not now. I have all the confidence in the world with our legal system, but we have just in the past year, let a guy out of prison, death row for that matter, because he was proven innocent 18 years later. Let's convict this guy at least before we burn him.

First-grader suspended for sex harassment

By JAY LINDSAY - Associated Press

BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) — A 6-year-old boy is getting a lesson on the meaning of sexual harassment long before he’ll be able to spell it.

The first-grader was suspended for three days for sexual harassment after he put two fingers inside a classmate’s waistband, school officials told his mother, Berthena Dorinvil. The boy told her he only touched the girl’s shirt after the girl touched him.

Experts say only in rare, troubling cases can children that young truly sexually harass one another.

“The connotation is you’re getting some kind of sexual gratification, or wanting sexual gratification, or are putting pressure on for some kind of sexual gratification, when a 6-year-old doesn’t have that capacity,” said E. Christopher Murray, a civil rights attorney who has handled school discipline cases.

Dr. Elizabeth Berger, a Philadelphia-area child psychiatrist, said this case seems to be an overzealous attempt to ensure students feel safe in school after years in which society was not attentive enough.

The boy’s mother called the Jan. 30 suspension from Downey Elementary School outrageous. She said she can’t even explain to her son what he did wrong because he’s too young to understand.

“He doesn’t know those things,” she told The Enterprise of Brockton. “He’s only 6 years old.”

Brockton school officials have not commented beyond a statement from Superintendent Basan Nembirkow that said sexual harassment charges are always investigated and officials are trained to deal with them.

The Brockton School Committee defines sexual harassment among students, in part, as “uninvited physical contact such as touching, hugging, patting or pinching.”

First-graders who repeatedly touch classmates need to be disciplined and taught what’s appropriate, said Nan Stein, a senior research scientist at the Center for Research on Women at Wellesley College. But don’t call the apparent discipline problem “sexual harassment” because first-graders just don’t get it, she said.

There have been similar cases. In 1996, a New York second-grader was suspended for kissing a girl and ripping a button off her skirt — an idea the boy said he got from his favorite book “Corduroy,” about a bear with a missing button. Earlier that year, a Lexington, N.C., 6-year-old was separated from his class after kissing a classmate on the cheek.

Quick, get the rope!!!

We had a case similar to that here in North Carolina about 7 or 8 years ago when a ten year old boy kissed one of his school mates. He was charged with sexual harassment. Can you believe that?

Of course, when it's a ten year old who is charged with something like this, most people will see the irony in the charge itself, but let's not allow someone of an age older than, say, 15 or so, then they should know better and well, the rest is what this is all about.

Listen, I'm not going to sit here and say that all who are charged with a crime are innocent, and it's our system that actually says, though the consitution says different, when charged, you are guilty until you can prove you are not. Otherwise, we wouldn't be able to imprison such perps. All I'm saying is that we must hold back those knee jerk reactions to things that turn our stomachs such as what has happened here. If you believe in our system and have such reactions, you sure as hell wouldn't be able to sit on his jury.

When a person is proven beyond all doubt that he or she is guilty of a given act, then we can and should voice our opinions of what the penalty should be. Before that, we should voice our opinions on whether they perp is guilty or not after we have seen or heard of the evidence. Even after that, we can voice our opinions with a much better idea of what was presented and how it was received. Remember the Alamo...no, that is remember OJ.
