Rusty Wallace Will Host "Angels"
NASCAR and MagicDust Television, will launch NASCAR Angels this fall with the first episode airing the week of Sept. 18 on local stations nationwide. Hosted by Rusty Wallace and NASCAR.COM reporter Shannon Wiseman, NASCAR Angels will hit the road each week with a different NASCAR driver and the Angel Automotive Technicians to help families and communities with their transportation needs.
The new half-hour, weekly syndicated television series, which is presented by Goodyear Gemini Automotive Care, will shoot 22 original episodes on location in major NASCAR race markets. The show will feature top NASCAR drivers and crew chiefs giving deserving families the chance to go behind-the-scenes to meet their heroes and get an up-close-and-personal glimpse into the NASCAR experience while their car is fixed.
Distributed by Litton Entertainment, NASCAR Angels is scheduled to debut across more than 95 percent of the country including ABC-owned stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston as well as WSB in Atlanta, and many more highly-respected broadcast stations. Superstation WGN will also be carrying NASCAR Angels as a one-hour block set for Sundays Noon-1 p.m. E.T.
"On NASCAR Angels, you'll meet people dedicated to helping others who could use a helping hand themselves," said Phil Alvidrez, MagicDust Television's general manager. "They struggle every day to get to work, take the kids to school or make it to a doctor's appointment because they can't keep the family car moving. 'NASCAR Angels' is a television show that will change those lives."
Current Nextel Cup Series drivers including Kasey Kahne, Greg Biffle and Jamie McMurray will appear on the program. Crew chiefs such as Doug Richert, Greg Zipadelli and Tommy Baldwin Jr., will participate as well.
"With the help of our drivers and crew chiefs, and some pros from Goodyear Gemini Automotive Care and the products of NASCAR Performance partners, NASCAR Angels will work under a tight deadline to complete each mission as technicians race to put cars back into tip-top condition," said Odis Lloyd, NASCAR's managing director of automotive licensing.
NASCAR Angels will complement the consumer education efforts of the automotive industry's "Be Car Care Aware" campaign and the fall release of its new Car Care Guide -- a first-of-its-kind reference guide for motorists which covers typical service occasions and major components, systems and parts with service interval recommendations, a maintenance log and more.
The original 22 episodes, which the number one rated stations in seven of the top-10 markets have agreed to carry, will be shot in Orlando/Daytona Beach, Chicago, Los Angeles, Charlotte, Dallas, Phoenix, Atlanta and Philadelphia.
Bobbie Woolf to Be Featured on NASCAR Angels
Bobbie Woolf, an employee in City of Daytona Beach’s Fire Department, will be featured in the first episode of the new television series titled NASCAR Angels, airing this fall. Woolf was selected after being nominated by a co-worker who cited her volunteer work performed with her three therapy dogs at area nursing homes, hospitals, ARNI Foundation and the New Horizons Service Dog Organization.
Technicians from Florida Tire in Celebration, a Goodyear retailer and Gemini Automotive Care provider, will restore and repair Woolf's 1996 Dodge Caravan. The episode features Woolf and her therapy dogs Ragtime, Patriot and Carley as they work in the office at the fire department. During one segment, the dogs will demonstrate how they teach visitors to the historic fire station about the job responsibilities of service dogs. Carley, a Golden Retriever, recently had a litter of four puppies that will make a guest appearance in the show. The NASCAR Angels have lots of surprises in store for Woolf, which will be revealed as they film the new show.
