Did anyone watch the awards banquet?
This is the first time in several years that I've watched it. Mostly because of the move to Las Vegas, and I wasn't disappointed. All-around, it was a good show. The comedy by Frank Caliendo and John Pinette was pretty lame except for a couple funny jokes.
Escala followed up by Brooks and Dunn were good performances. Was I the only one that felt dirty watching Escala perform in those tiny dresses? It probably didn't help with the cameras on the floor looking up at them.
Mark Martin was by far the best moment of the night. He's so humble, and just and outstanding person. Johnson could win another 4 Championships in a row, and never equal Martin's level of character. Most awkward moment was Kasey Kahne's speech. It just felt robotic, and forced. I could hear the groans from the audience when he said he loved working for Richard Petty, and was proud of his team.
Props to Newman for suggesting that Johnson retire, or take 5-10 years off. Which ever he's more comfortable with.
