DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Ken Schrader and the BAM Racing team has sponsorship for the No. 49 Dodge, at least for Speedweeks 2004 at Daytona International Speedway.
A full-page ad in Monday's News-Journal in Daytona Beach, Fla., announced the appearance of the Schwan's Home Service Dodge in the Daytona 500 on Feb. 15.
There was no word on whether the frozen food home delivery company would sponsor Schrader's car in Saturday night's Budweiser Shootout special event, or for the rest of the season.
Red Baron Frozen Pizza, a brand of the Schwan Food Company, previously sponsored Schrader in the late 1980s when he drove for owner Junie Donlavey.
The ad bears an image of a pale greenish-yellow car with deep blue sponsor signage on the hood and quarter panels.
The company's signature swan that is part of the logos seen on its trucks is depicted between the car's numbers and front wheels on each side.
BAM Racing, owned by Elizabeth and Tony Morganthau, hasn't had a full-time primary sponsor since it joined the series in 2002, when driver Shawna Robinson qualified for her first Daytona 500.
Schrader finished 36th in the championship for BAM in 2003, the team's first full season.
His best qualifying run was third at Bristol in the spring and his best finish was eighth at Michigan in August.
Schrader, a former winner of the Budweiser Shootout whose last pole came in 1999 at Talladega, debuted for BAM with a sixth-place effort in the 2003 Shootout.
-----------------------
I've seen an announcement on Schwan's web site, an announcement on Ken Scharder's website, and a press release, all of which refer to a "multi-year" deal. Yet NASCAR.com is reporting it as a 1 race-deal?
