Go ahead and make yours if you've got a little time to kill.
Be aware of climate, time of day, and race length.
I found it fun to make up some sponsors, change some race lengths and of course add favorite tracks

Cup and Nationwide at COTA would be awesome
Eddie Gossage has such a stick up his butt about COTA, I bet he'd make it a political nightmare for NASCAR to race there.

Besides, it isn't owned by SMI or ISC, so it wouldn't have any political pull.

They might one day though. Road America is privately family owned and all signs point towards it being on the Cup schedule for 2015. If that happens, anything can happen!

Definitely digging Eldora :growl:

Im ok with the schedule now pretty much, I believe the cup series needs to go to Road America in the near future. And have a road coarse in the chase for sure.

I think they need to take away a race from some tracks that have two races a year, like Pocono.

Brad's schedule is fantastic. I'm 100% bought in to that.

Just based on existing tracks, I'd like to see something like this in 2015:

2/22 Daytona
3/1 Phoenix
3/8 Las Vegas
3/15 Atlanta
3/22 Fontana
3/29 Texas
4/12 Bristol
4/19 Martinsville
4/25 Richmond*
5/3 Talladega
5/9 Kansas*
5/16 All-Star*
5/24 Charlotte
5/31 Dover
6/7 Sonoma
6/14 Pocono
6/21 Michigan
6/27 Kentucky*
7/4 Daytona*
7/12 New Hampshire
7/25 Texas*
8/2 Pocono
8/8 Kansas*
8/16 Michigan
8/22 Chicagoland*
9/6 Darlington
9/12 Richmond*
9/20 Indianapolis
9/26 Bristol*
10/4 New Hampshire
10/11 Dover
10/18 Watkins Glen
10/24 Charlotte*
11/1 Martinsville
11/8 Talladega
11/15 Phoenix
11/22 Homestead

*Saturday race

Not a lot of changes, just shaking up the Chase tracks slightly, and putting some races in more traditional dates.

In a perfect world they would do all three races out west and then hit Texas and Atlanta on the way back. Maybe after fuel prices are $10.00 a gallon then they will think about doing that.

This would take alot of time to think out but My basic idea would be to drop four races, add more bye weeks and have the chase be 8 races instead of 10.This way 1/4 of the schedule is the chase (If we must have it although I'd alter the win thing to give the points leader at the end more of an advantage.)

In the chase, I'd have two road courses, three short track races, two mile 1/2 and one super speedway in the middle.

I'd put Rockingham back in, put in a dirt race and take out a few second dates.

Man, Brad's schedule is pretty solid. The Bristol/Road Atlanta/Richmond/Talladega two-week stretch would almost be too much excitement for me to handle.

add in irwindale
a total of 3 trips to darlington
trade kansas for going back to north wilksboro

as long as the work did not include repaving I would be fine. a short track that wears the tires like a cheese grader sounds good to me. Patch the areas that need it if a problem develops maybe the cars would benefit from having to drive around it until it can be fixed right.

It could work, certianly outside the box.. Once i read the article though, i didnt like Vegas ending the season or his idea for the all star race

this looks fairly recent, just a car shakedown??

The ENTIRE track is like that first pic. Every few feet it's busted open with grass growing through. Literally every few feet. It seems like it would have to be repaved. Everything is dilapidated there.

Six of ten Chase races in primetime. Season finale in Las Vegas where it needs to be and has needed to be for years.

I agree with everything except for races running on a weeknight, I think Rockingham needs to be back to the cup schedule, otherwise I think it looks pretty good AndyMarquisLive

All RP and 1.5 quad ovals loose a date. Pocono and Michigan too. If the quad ovals were to reconfigure to a 1 mile or less configuration that isn't a copycat they would be given a date back.
* In addition to the required reconfiguration the Fort Worth, Denton, Arlington, Dallas Texas track would have to.offer up Eddie Gossage as a burnt peace offering in order to get a second date back. It is the least they can offer for the sheetie 2nd date aquistion, and even more so for not properly accrediting the locals in Arlington and Fort Worth with some shared naming honours.

Darlington gets a date back.
Rockingham and Wilksboro gets their races back.
Iowa, Road America, gets races dates.

Homestead looses a date just because I dont like Brian.

Orherwise I am satisfied with the curent schedule.

North Wilkesboro is done. I'd rather see it torn down and turned in to a strip mall than see it continue to rot.

Rockingham - the fans who have spent 10 years whining about that track closing had a chance to show up and they didn't.

Brad has an opinion on this thread..lol

......Among other things, Keselowski not only would shuffle the order of several races, he would shorten the overall calendar so the season ends about six weeks earlier (it currently ends in mid-November) and avoids competing against the NFL too long.

He would finish the season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, instead of Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida, partly because NASCAR holds its annual year-end awards dinner in Las Vegas.

The driver also would move the All-Star Race from mid-May to just before the finale in Las Vegas, and the All-Star Race would be held at different tracks each year.

Keselowski also would hold "double-headers" during certain weeks, when the Cup series would race at one track on Wednesday nights and another on Sunday, such as Dover, Del., and Loudon, N.H.

He also proposed adding a twisty road course, Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International, to the 10-race Chase for the Cup title playoff.

And after the season opener at Daytona, Keselowski proposed a "NASCAR Goes West" stretch at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Phoenix and Sonoma before heading back East. This year the order was Daytona, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Bristol (Tenn.) and Fontana.

"California/Los Angeles is a pretty big market for us, and the Auto Club 400 has turned into one of our best races of the year," Keselowski wrote. "I think going from Daytona, one of our biggest races, to California keeps the season rolling with big marquee races."

I like some of Brad's proposed changes, like the West Coast Swing right after Daytona and the final race being moved to Vegas since that's where they go for the awards banquet at the end of the year.

I'm not too keen on the doubleheaders. Don't get me wrong - I would love to watch two Cup races in one week for ten weeks out of the year - but the schedule already seems hectic enough for everybody as it is. What happens when one of those two races gets rained out, as the writer of that Yahoo article mentioned? Then everyone will really be scrambling. In addition, with attendance numbers dropping, I wonder how many people would actually show up for Wednesday night Cup races, since everyone has to work and kids have to be in school. A Cup race is an all day thing, not like a movie or a basketball game. I could see the tracks trying to charge extra for tickets too, since it would be a big prime-time event and all.

I'm indifferent to the rest of it.

I love how so many dream schedules feature Road America and Iowa. Two of the tracks the Cup series absolutely needs to get on it's schedule.
