NASCAR Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Tonight

These inductions have gotten stale already. They need to juice things up somehow.
I agree. I don't have a clue what they can do but I find myself to be disinterested beyond belief. I only created a thread because I've seen this mentioned so much on Twitter today and how many are looking forward to it.

I do want to go there though to visit the HOF. I think that would be very cool. Someday, but it will have to be when I go to a Charlotte race again and I don't plan to do that anytime soon.

I'll go to the HoF when they have more to see.
You realize that just because they don't have an extensive HOF class of drivers they still have the sport covered pretty well. I have a few friends that have been there and they said it is definitely worth the visit. I just can't justify hauling my RV down there for just the HOF. A race would have to be involved too.

As a former Rusty fan, I will watch his part. It's true that it's boring, but let's be honest, isn't all Hall of Fame ceremonies boring? Lol I live by the NFL Hall of Fame, and I'm offered free tickets to the induction ceremony almost every year and I turn it down because of how stale it is.

I know. I guess mentioning the CoT made it confusing. I just felt that after all the talk about the CoT being safer, etc, Bruton should have known the right thing to do.
I'm not sure that the COT would have made a difference. That was a hard hit.

c'mon the baseball, HOF is awesome...oh yeah nobody is getting inducted ever again. Yeah these HOF ceremonies are pretty bad, at least the NFL has a hall of fame game, which yeah does suck, because most starters don't play in it, being the first preseason game. Nascar's is probably the most interesting, they focus on not only the driver, but showcase his car, he was most successful in. With the Nascar hall also being "new" they have lots of great drivers still getting in over the next few years

I assure you, the CoT would have made a huge difference dpk. There's no comparison in driver door safety between the 2 designs.

Not as direct to the door, but 2:20 in you see the door takes a huge hit and barely shows it afterward.

I'll have to trust the engineer in you on that statement. ;)

My wife and I were there when it happened and it sounded like a cannon going off when he got hit. Regardless of the safety of the cars it was a dumb idea from the onset. The only reason that we stayed to watch it was because it was immediately after the Nationwide race.

I can also tell you that it is very understandable how a hit like that can occur at that track. My family and I drove on the track prior to both of last years events. When you drive around that place, even at the slower speed we were traveling, you cannot see what is in front of you around the corners. Those guys are driving blind around that place.

.

Good. I sometimes get tired of explaining all these things to you. ;)

Then again, maybe nascar added 30lbs of steel to the door just to boost the value of their steel investments.

I really don't care what Jeff Gluck thinks. It's too soon for Wallace to be inducted, but his numbers justify his induction.

Bristol isn't an appropriate track for a race like that. And they weren't in the "old" cars, they were in USAR Pro Cup cars.

He's been retired for what, 7 or 8 years?

Larry Phillips and Chris Economacki better be in next year's class and Philip Morris better be inducted right after he's been retired for five years. But NASCAR only cares about the Cup drivers. The only reason Richie Evans was inducted (though he certainly should've been inducted) was to appease NASCAR's yankee fans and the Bowman Gray crowd.

I'd say a lot of why he was inducted before others is the fact that he's still, well, alive. Lol People that pay to go to the ceremonies expect to see at least some actual HoFers give an acceptance speech and not their families.

Really , it wasn't a half bad show .I hate to hear Rusty speak and did not intend to watch him, but I couldn't turn him off. He didn't do a bad job.The others were good too.

Congrats Rusty! Man, that has to be a good feeling.

I think they are just stocking the HoF to get the count up - they have 60 years to catch up on. I also think a lot of founding drivers and teams are probably lost with the current voting group who naturally vote based on what they experienced (how many historians are part of that group). NASCAR should have seeded the HoF with people to establish standards. They could honor individuals from the past during each induction ceremony.

Susan Baker must have been hot when she was young, she looked elegant last night. My favorite speeches were from Cotton Owens grandson, and Susan Bakers Gordon story.

I thought Mrs. Baker could have passed for Buddy's daughter.
