Like every morning I log on to the racing-forums.com NASCAR Forum for hopefully some NASCAR news and banter. This morning I get on there and see 'redirects' littering the page from the top down. What the heck's going on? This is all NASCAR related. 'PeopleAreStrange' & 'Greg' created some good topics with track poll and discussion IMO. I'm not sure why that's moved out of the NASCAR section. I'm confused why these polls are different than ones that I've been seeing on here for years. Maybe it's just me and I'm missing the point. Does this mean that we can no longer post polls in the NASCAR section that are NASCAR related? Personally I feel that moving the NASCAR related polls and the like are the kiss of death to discussion on the threads subjects. Again, only speaking for myself, I don't frequent the games & contests area of the boards so I would have never had the chance to cast my vote. Could a subsection of the NASCAR area of the forum be created to allow the posting of NASCAR related polls? At the very least that may allow us to know that the NASCAR related poll actually exists and give us an opportunity to look at it and participate.
I recently started a thread for a Brian France To-Do List. I intended on some users coming up with some good ideas that maybe could be passed along to those that are in charge of instituting change in the sport. I was going to send the list to NASCAR via way of the NASCAR fan council since I am a member. When I feel that the thread has died down enough I was going to compile the list and bring up the changes for a vote, or a poll if you will, that would allow the forum to decide what we would send to them. Am I allowed to do that or is that a contest?
Back in February I started a 2012 NASCAR BOLD Prediction Thread. This, no doubt, will come out to be a tie as it has previously. I intended on posting a tie breaker in the form of a poll. Am I allowed to do that or is that a contest?
I don't know, maybe other users are complaining about the number of polls or something but personally I don't have an issue with it. Life's so easy these days with the invention of the 'computer mouse' and 'scroll wheel' that I find it very easy to pass threads on a page that I don't feel like reading. I hate to think that the voice of one is going to dictate what the rest of us are able to view on the NASCAR forum.
OK, so I took a breath and have now had a couple swigs of coffee.
My only question is..... How can we differentiate a poll from a contest?
