NASCAR in Maryland

Well, folks, I think this is the start. NASCAR's been wanting to put a track here for decades. Now that the socialists are bent out of shape over the illegal drag race turned deadly, they're wanting more sanctioned racetracks.

So, I don't think they'll stand in the way at this point.

What I'm saying is I have an initial feeling that someone high and mighty is paying attention here and is ready to take the opportunitty.

Named bruton?

I have never heard of anyone trying to put a track in the name of NASCAR in Maryland. The only place I have heard that is close to this area is New York.

And if you think NASCAR is going to build a track, or anyone else for that matter, because an idiotic event that involved "racing", you need to change your flavor of Kool-Aid.

Maybe if P.G. County would target the area like Prince William County and Fairfax County did in Northern Virginia, these incidents won't happen anymore.

C'mon it's PG County. You know better than that.

I think they should reopen Aquasco, tear down the old control tower and repave the track. Leave the track open and unregulated and let the dummies run their cars there. No entry fee, no safety inspections, just flat out. That's what they want, right?

Right now someone stands to gain. MIR, Potomac, Capitol. They all stand to gain big.

And if you do a Google Search, you'll find NASCAR has, for a long time, been interested in building a track in Maryland to target the D.C. area. I wonder what would happen if Bruton Smith paid a visit to Nanjemoy or Brandywine.

But if they do that, there's no real money to be made. And no one would be able or willing to do that around here.

But if they were able to regulate it and let you "run what you brung," it would be a big hit. Charge a small fee to enter as long as your car was safe, a small fee for admission, hire off-duty cops for security and visibility, and serve no alcohol. Should take right off the ground...

thats what our local track has. pay 10 for admission and 10 fro a tech card, you sign the waivers, and the night is yours.

BUT THEY DO THAT ALREADY!

It's $10 entry fee. You just have to pass a safety inspection, one time. If you have passed Maryland State Inspection and bring the certificate, you don't even need to do that.

These friggin' terrorists don't want to pay the $10 and have to deal with safety crews. That's why I say open up the old track and let them all go 0-60 in under 3.2 seconds and let the bodies hit the floor.

I'd rather them risk their lives on an old racing facility that will never see regulated action than see them kill themselves and/or others ... ON MY ROADS, the roads I pay taxes for and the roads I have to drive down to get to work in the morning.

I think reopening Aquasco Speedway is a great idea. Have it be a 24/7 open dragstrip. :)

But, you're right, the state will never do anything they can't make money off of.

Why not raise our taxes to cover the expenses?

They have no problem raising our taxes to improve BALTIMORE's schools or improve BALTIMORE's roads or to add police to BALTIMORE while they cut funding to the rest of the state.

If they can raise our taxes and cut our programs to fund BALTIMORE CITY's projects, surely they can waste a few thousand dollars here and there.

:)

There will not be a Nascar track in Maryland. There are tracks close by in Richmond to the South and Dover to the East
