Nascar knows Dodge has disadvantage.....

This is from the Tennessean.

Dodge disadvantage: NASCAR has confirmed Dodge's claims that the Intrepid is underpowered, but said there's little that can be done before the end of the season.

''The data through engine testing shows that the Dodges horsepower numbers may not be quite as good as the other manufacturers,'' Winston Cup director John Darby said. ''But is it a huge discrepancy? No. And with five races left, there comes a point where NASCAR needs to step away and let the chips fall where they may.''

Dodge executives have been complaining since August that their cars can no longer compete with the other makes, partly because any aerodynamic edge they had was nullified when NASCAR allowed the Chevrolets and Pontiacs to extend their front air dams.

Before the General Motors cars got the help, the Dodges were aerodynamically ahead, allowing them to overcome any shortcomings in the engine program.

I find it funny how Bill Elliott won Homestead last year and Nascar made a rule change with 2 races to go.

Remember the Hemi. Nascar's not fond of Mopar ever having an advantage.

Nascar dont give a rats @$$ for dodge, But next year we are gonna win like crazy and have a championship because we got two good drivers coming along with Jamie and sterling being back, Plue all of the Petty cars are gonna win once or twice next year Im certin

Same old story. A make is not as competitive as another make. Instead of the manufacturer stepping up and fixing that disadvantage, they look to NASCAR. I see no harm in a make dominating races if they have an advantage.........but by the same token, I would expect the other makes (manufacturers) to fix that. Why does everyone think it's NASCAR's responsibility?:(

I agree and I'm not necessarily a Dodge fan. BUT, Dodge got 1/2 an inch taken from them at the beginning of the year and every other manufacturer got concessions since then. Yes a Dodge won yesterday but where did the rest of the dodges finish? My point is that Nascar made a change last year with 2 races left and yet this year there is not enough races left to make a change. They've known about the disadvantage longer than this even.
JMHO is all and if anybody wants to disagree with me, well, you're wrong. LOL

I'm not disagreeing with you bump drafting. I'm disagressing with the notion that NASCAR should be the one "fixing" the problem. I know, they've done it in the past......and now we have this can of worms to deal with. Someday, NASCAR will have to step out of it.......or go to a common template, common motor, common everything.

I do have a question. You mentioned you were not a Dodge fan. With every make being brought to parity, who can saw which make is better? The Manufacturers Race is a joke......and NASCAR is the one mostly to blame for it. I'm not a NASCAR basher (actually, I think they do an excellent job of running the three series), but they screwed up with this parity stuff and we all are suffering because of it. I just hope NASCAR sees the light and steps out of it.:)

Dodge came with a car capable of whooping tail and nascar immediately started taking stuff away.

Parity schmarity.

I did not see any evidence of Dodge struggling with horsepower versus Pontiac in the side by side racing that McMurray and Labonte were doing on Sunday. Jamie was not in a car that was disadvantaged in any way. The Hendrick team has admitted that they made engine changes that have given them a little more horsepower, if Dodge wants the same talk to the engine builders. Obviously those engine changes were not illegal or they would not talk of them in so many interviews. I believe that there are enough "grey" areas still that Dodge could play around a little and find the edge they think Nascar needs to give them. Maybe they are being a little lazy in the R&D side, or maybe Casey just isn't running enough laps for them to find out if the stuff they are trying is gonna work or not.
They already did themselves a favor by signing the Penske team because there is no better whiner, oops I mean lobbier, than the Penske/Wallace team!

Why should they bother with R n D if nascar is just gonna boost the other makes, or make their stuff illegal if they do find an edge?

Parity stiffles creativity and rewards incompetence,

I'm sure that there is something comming from Damlier-Chrysler in 2003 or the penske organization would not be going that way next year. The Captain had a strong relationship with another D-C brand; Mercedes, in his CART years.
