NASCAR legend loses relics in morning fire
A Cotton Owens Enterprises in Spartanburg South Carolina burned Thursday morning in a fire the NASCAR legend described as a “big loss.”
The fire destroyed Owens' collection of old car parts and antiques from Owens’ racing years.
One man said the fire started when a shop at the rear of the property lit a beehive on fire, and that fire got out of hand.
Owens was a legendary driver and car owner who was named as one of NASCAR’s 50 greatest drivers in 1998.
