NASCAR May Hold Toyota Back

Sources say NASCAR wants Toyota to spend a year in the Busch Series, perhaps as early as 2006, before making the jump to Cup. To prepare for Toyota's arrival, Ford has stepped up factory backing, including adding Brewco Motorsports and driver David Green to the family. A second driver in the No. 27, possibly former Busch and trucks champion Greg Biffle, could race a partial Busch schedule in 2005. Biffle wants to scale back his Busch schedule and is also considering a Ford ride at ppc Racing. Carl Edwards will take Biffle's vacated No. 60 Roush ride.(FOX Sports)

I really have nothing against Toyota as a whole. If I were in the market for a new car right now, I would almost certainly buy a Toyota Camry. In my business I get a better feel for dependability, durability, cost of ownership etc. than most people. And trust me, Toyota is head and shoulders above the rest of the mass produced auto makers in every area. Besides that, they make a whole lot of them here in Ohio. As opposed to GM who makes most of the cars we see here up in Canada. Ford makes most of them in Mexico too.

I do expect NASCAR to go out of their way to make sure Toyota is extremely competitive. I just hope they don't dominate immediately just for the sake of the sport. Not many long-time NASCAR fans wish to see a foreign car company even in the sport, much less winning.

So the sport is going to suffer if a "foriegn" make comes in and dominates? What does that say about the competition in the sport? Let me clarify a little......what does that say about the competition among the manufacturers in this sport? If NASCAR is, in fact, holding back on Toyota entering the top tiers of the stockcar racing because of the competition, then I say it says volumes on just what a joke the manufacturers race is...........but that is something I've always thought was a joke anyway.

Not many long-time NASCAR fans wish to see a foreign car company even in the sport, much less winning.

And that says volumes about that group of fans. But I better let that slide. Too many here will take it personal.

For the life of me I can't figure out why there isn't someone hasn't started another high-end stock car series. It's not like there's not enough tracks or fans.

4XChampion, I think Camrys are a great car but did you know they're also one of the most stolen? Of course they also have one of the highest resale values. :)
