NASCAR Newbie with a few questions

Does any one collect 1:24 Scale Cars? I’ve been researching a few of the Kasey Khane cars and thinking of buying either the Popeye or Mt Dew car. Maybe even both.

But gets kind of confusing because of the 1 in 576 or 1 in 4,086 something along those lines of car releases. Why does a car with a much lower number cost/worth more then a much higher number? Pros/Cons what to look for when buying a die cast car?

Next how does one go about geting a drivers autograph at the track or is it even possible with so many fans? Best way? If so could I take a die cast car of the driver to be autographed or do you have to buy the car at the track.

Next I’ll be going to Brickyard 400 in August. Taking a pop-up camper and staying 2 or 3 days. Being in August its going to be VERY hot. I have AC but electricity won’t be available camping outside the track. I thought of taking a generator for the AC but seems it would be very loud to me and not be aloud?

Thanks!

What makes the diecast car cost more is the supply and demand of the piece. It really doesn't matter how many they make as long as they are wanted by collectors. If they make 576 of a certain piece and only 250 collectors want one, the value of the piece is low, on the other hand if they make 4,086 of another piece and 8,000 people want one that drives the price up.

I don't know about Indy but all the other tracks I've camped at generators were allowed, I know if it was me I would rather have it and not be able to use it rather than not having it and everybody around you have one. In some places these days you have to put a stack on the exhaust so the noise and exhaust will go up.

If you want something auto'ed, send it to the race shop. They will sign it and send it back to you.

I camped out at Bristol and nobody seemed to be to shy about there generators. The noise the generators made, covered up the noise of the other campers.

hu? More info please.

Thanks everyone for the kind responses!

the very low production numbers (ie: 500) are usually something like the Black Window Banks, they also have Clear Window Banks and then the Clear Window Collectables. These will usually use initial IDs like BWB, CWB, and CWC. Though the banks aren't really as cool or as popular as the regular CWC's, they are produced in less quantity, so sometimes the value of these will increase quite well. For instance, a 1997 Robby Gordon #40 bank cost me 30 bucks or so while the regular car was 8 bucks.
As far as autographs, a guarantee is to send it to the race shop or fan club (sometimes you have to be a member). Although, the return is guaranteed, it will sometimes take a year. Most drivers have signings at their merch trailer, but a lot of them require fan club membership. I know that when Robby is at Cup races, you usually need to be a member, however, at the Busch races (at least the stand alones) its open to whoever. I bought a car and had it signed, but i don't think they really keep track of what is getting signed. Most of the time, if you buy something, you can get it autographed guaranteed if they are there, but if you bring something up, I would count on it getting signed, but would not guarantee it. There's a whole Diecast section here. I've recently started collecting myself, so i've been trying to figure it all out too.
