.... one pit stop at Phoenix.....

what's everybody think of that???

Probably not the first time and probably not the last.
No big deal, better that he got it rather than it getting punted by another car and someone getting hurt.

I've seen NASCAR officials do that often.....for nearly every team in the series. It's part of their job to make the pits as safe as possible. Keeping a tire from getting away from the pits and causing some safety issue is just doing a good job.:) But, if a tire does get away, I doubt you would see the official chase it down for the team.

Just another example of how world powers have aligned to assure Roush everything he wants. He was saving the tire to throw at Junior's crew later in the race.

Quit yer whining...it's old.

When the spring was found to be wrong, Leslie said it had
come straight out of the mfger's box and went to the #6 hauler and got another boxed spring, took it to the
NASCAR inspector and it also failed. In an interview with Leslie before the race Sunday, he blew any chance of
Roush getting a reversal of the pts penalty (not that there was any reason that they should) when he said that
they had checked all the springs for most the year and never had a bad one. They then stopped checking them
regularly and just trusting that they were always going to be right. He took the blame and said that they would
be checking all the parts out of the boxes all the time now. Jack should be telling Leslie the little saying that's
been going around this message board a couple times lately..... Jack to Leslie, " Ben, don't assume anything
cause when you do, you make an @ss out of you and me!". :D

That official would have to be a big boy to throw one of those tires at Jr!! Those suckers are heavy!:) :D

He could save it for Ward to throw at JR. I thought Ward was pretty acurate a while back throwing those heel pads or whatever that was.
And TN ward fan I am just jokin around I don't mean to start any trouble.
;) :beerchug:

They talked about this on Totally Nascar with one of the email questions and they said it was no big deal. The officials do it for everyone. I have seen the officials do it with other teams and it is something they do.

He did it for safty and probley talked to the crew and warned them about that

That's been left as a judgement call to the officials. They don't have to get it for you, though. A tire rolling in front of a car could be hit back into crew members, so if the official can reach it, they probably will grab it.

I do that sometimes too, Paul. I'll have an afterthought and accidently post again. I try and remember to press edit instead.

I remember one year at Bristol when DJ had pretty good aim with a helmet.

Ward has good aim. He just needs something heavier than booties. LOL
