Watching some of the races from this season now. Man, Jeff Gordon in the booth is a huge improvement over Larry McReynolds and bringing back the 2001 music is pleasant. I still wish they'd replace Jaws.

I also like the track surface analysis they do in pre-race. First time in years Fox has done something that informs fans.

If they'd get rid of both of the Waltrips things would be goo. At least get rid of the doofus Mikey and his pit walk. Seems to me that even a lot of the drivers don't want his dumb ### there either.

Funny how people are either 100% for or against the Waltraps. i enjoy both of them. Larry Mcdonalds too...who knew i was wrong all this time?

Have to admit, I am liking Jeff Gordon in the booth so far, you can tell that DW may not be all that happy with Jeff in the booth as Jeff experience is starting to outshine DW's, it really is time that FOX just replace DW with Gordon and bring back Larry Mac , then all would be good.

Jeff has been great so far, DW is still ok, and I really like Larry Mac in his new role.

Considering DW will be 70 next year, I don't see him doing color much longer. I kinda think Knaus will replace him in '19.

Gordon and Darrell go at it way too often in the booth in terms of emphatically standing behind their analysis. And it isn't a good thing imo. It makes for awkward tv. You can pick out multiple times over the course of a race where there's an awkward silence after the two of them get done saying what they have to say.

Btw...Gordon is always right :D

Gordon has been fantastic, much better than I expected him to be. But he needs to stop being such a cheerleader for the HMS drivers. That gets downright irritating, IMO.

I'd like to see DW replaced with Andy Petree.

All in all, the Fontana race was excellent. And Fox's coverage was very good.

Going back to the old music was a huge improvement in itself. And I actually like the "Fox Box" now that I have a big giant ass TV". NBC's graphics are better but NBC and Fox are both better than the scroll ESPN uses for IndyCar.

Seems to me that the racing being better improved the overall broadcast. Mike Joy can talk about racing on the track instead of trying to moderate discussions about Dale Earnhardt or lead Jaws into a 20 minute discussion about how Kyle Busch is a driving god, Jimmie Johnson is a six-time champion because he's smooth or Kevin Harvick is always there at the end. And it seems like Jeff and Jaws have something to discuss during the race.

I really like that Jeff doesn't sit there talking about how great he was in Cup and how he won four championships. He just gives insight and analysis. He doesn't sit there talking about how Chase Elliott is the greatest of all time or a driving god because he reminds him of himself like Jaws does with Kyle.

DW has been less annoying this year since Gordon joined the booth.
I don't mind Mikey's pre-race grid walk because it lightens up the mood a bit - but I wish that was the only role he played as a broadcaster.
Joy is as great as always
McReynolds has excelled in his new role and I think he found his niche as a broadcaster
Still not sure who I would prefer to have replace DW when he retires....Knaus would be good, but I think there would be too much Hendrick discussion with he and Gordon both in the booth. Maybe Wally Dallenbach?

Knaus would be great, IMO. He'd bring a great amount of technical knowledge to the booth. Plus he's great on TV. I loved the show he used to do on SPEED with Mikey.

It may be my biased ear but I haven't heard Gordon openly rooting for any Hendrick drivers. The man worked along side those guys for years, so if he seems to talk more in depth about them or if he seems more enthusiastic when sharing some of the first-hand knowledge he has on each driver or the organization, how can you not understand why? Kind of nit picky if you ask me.

Gordon is coming into his own, he adds to the coverage. DW has the gift of gab and that's OK with me (someone has to fill) but I can't stand how he calls the start of the race (I call it baby talk). And I still like Larry Mac. I've noticed the the sound is improved this year (I listen with a 7.1 surround sound system); I think NBCs better sound last year pushed Fox - competition is good.

Never liked Jeff but he is great in the booth. I really liked the fact he owned up and said at the end he couldn't pull the moves Chase was making.

DW had his time and thank you but he has to move on.
MW............................ this is a racing show, clowns are down the block.

Gordon is getting better every week. Brings a lot of insight to modern driving and terminology. DW hasn't been behind the wheel in 16 years and that is starting to hurt him, especially when listening to Gordon.

I like the walk down pit road, but why does it need to be done in 30 seconds? I like seeing everyone down there and getting prepped for the race. Start at the back and walk toward the front. Spend 30 seconds with each driver (i.e. 20 minute segment that can be broken into 2 via commercial break), or just walk slowly from the back to the front and see who wants to talk that day. I like the spontaneity of it. You don't need to interview just drivers, what about owners, or wives, or crew chiefs, pit crew members, etc. It is a family sport, I want to know more about the family on pit road. What are the strategies for the day? What are the goals for the back markers? It's a great opportunity for the back markers to promote their products on tv and get a little more funding.

I think it is hilarious when things like this happen!
Glad John Cena was a good sport about it all.

Good idea with a less flamboyant and not so egotistical person doing the walk, one of the profesional personalities like Mike Joy or Chris Meyers. One Waltrip is too many for me.

Not a big fan of the booth they had two phenomenal finishes in the 500 and Phoenix ajd blew it with their monotone speaking. They made it sound like paint drying.

they do fine. The midrace report is better, just a little less zooming in on the cookie cutters. They have a talented staff good music and color.
