Regarding the Iowa broadcast:

> Really liked the new season race opener. Best part of NBC’s broadcast.
> I don’t particularly like Diffy but he did himself well. Had some odd phrases that didn’t make sense. The gerbils were insufferable. I thought LeTart was getting oxygen via a lung hose so he could keep ranting without taking an interrupted breath.
> Video quality via the network a la Hulu Live was the worst of all the broadcast groups. Looked like a throwback to pre HDTV. We have a top line Samsung Mini LED so it’s not that.
> Production/direction quality was OK. Too much emphasis on leaders as usual. Either they said nothing about how Bubba was getting the lucky dogs, then no mention of him racing back up…or we just missed it.
> Bravo to keeping the racing sounds low enough underneath the commentary and radio comms so I could understand them. At least it was like that on our feed.

50% of the Letarte we are getting would be perfect
 
NBCS/USA was fine.

Obviously Prime is the gold standard but NBC Sports is a close second.

Leigh Diffey is the best of the play by play announcers.

The graphics were great. Same as Amazon which is perfect.

Picture wasn’t as good as Amazon or HBO Max but much better than FOX, FS1/2 and TNT.

Sound quality was second only to Amazon.

Camerawork was great.

Yeah, I have a late era Panasonic plasma (basically the OLED of the 2010s) and the picture quality yesterday was unusually terrible, even by cable standards.

I haven't seen it and likely won't but it's pretty sad if the best part of a sports broadcast is over before the coverage of the competition starts.

I don't know if it's my TV, my provider's streaming service, or my own senses but the picture and audio quality is the same for me regardless of source.
 
They pretty much focused on the top 10. If a driver wasn't in the top 10, they didn't get mentioned unless they were involved in a wreck.
 
Yeah, I probably exaggerated how the opening montage was better than anything else, but it was well done. Has Logano walking in to some bar out in a dusty rural area, and it’s full of current drivers plus Richard Petty. They’re playing cards, shooting pool, and then it merges with drivers of the past and present, then racing highlights from all eras, finishing with rapid shots from this season, wrecks, winners, etc. Editing is top notch, just well done. I’ll probably watch it a few more times. They will likely mix it up by adding old video from the current race to be broadcast.
