Musgrave was found to be in violation of Section 12-4-A.

NASCAR announced today that Ted Musgrave, driver of the No. 9 Toyota in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, has been suspended from competition until July 3, penalized 50 championship driver points, fined $10,000 and placed on probation until Dec. 31 for a rule violation he committed during the race at the Milwaukee Mile on June 22.

Musgrave was found to be in violation of Section 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing; hitting another competitor’s truck during a caution period) of the 2007 NASCAR rule book.

In addition, Bob Germain, owner of the No. 9, has been penalized 50 championship truck owner points.

The next race on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule is at Memphis Motorsports Park on Saturday.

Just don't understand why everyone got on KB about the pit road incident but noone ever said squat about Ted's stupid @ss stunt on the track. Sure the driver was in the truck and the jack man wasn't protected, but it could be just as dangerous.

I heard a nascar offical talking about "Ted" at the airport on Sunday.....what happened?

Am I wrong or did Carl Edwards NOT get parked the time he did that to Jr. on Yellow when he was PO'd at him a couple years ago. Ah, more inconsistancy from NASCAR

The incident took place after a Lap 74 crash involving the veteran Musgrave, the 2005 series champion, and rookie Kelly Bires. The two collided in Turn 2, and Musgrave then appeared to intentionally ram the nose of his truck into the driver's-side door of Bires' truck.

NASCAR officials black-flagged Musgrave, forcing him to pull his heavily damaged truck off the track.

Musgrave downplayed the incident afterward, claiming that he could "hardly steer" his truck after the crash. But he criticized Bires and other slower trucks for not getting out of the way of the leaders on the track.

Bires, a two-time Wisconsin state high-school wrestling champion, called the post-crash ramming "kind of uncalled for." I don't know if he's a sore loser or what," Bires said.

Michigan Busch race last August. Edwards was put on probation and fined.

Edwards was leading the race when Earnhardt spun him out of his way with one lap to go. Earnhardt went on to win the race under caution, and as he was making that final lap, Edwards drove onto the track and rammed into the side of Earnhardt’s car. Earnhardt’s hand was hanging out his window when Edwards bashed into his car, and he had to quickly pull it back in to avoid injury.

Edwards later went to Victory Lane, where Earnhardt was being uncharacteristically booed by the fans, and the two had a heated argument during the post-race ceremonies.

Ah, well.....That was then. This is NOW.
Maybe NASCAR finally decided it was time to draw that "line in the sand" thing and do something. Maybe this is the first of like penalties to be assessed for the same actions in the future??

yep, better to get it before it gets out of control.

Yep, his interview was silly, but he wouldn't admit to anything anyway.

There was a lot of difference between what he did and what Edwards did. Ted didn't just run into Bires, he stayed in the gas while he was into his truck. Carl didn't do that and more or less what they call, traded paint.

almost took jr's hand off

That is stretching it a bit, but of course, it all depends on your point of view. I'm not going to debate that whether it's a fact or not, and there will always be those on both sides of that issue, but the fact remains that Carl hit Jr on a glancing blow and didn't run him into the wall. Ted didn't just bang into Bire, he pushed him into the wall and kept his foot in the gas while they were pinned to the wall. I would compare the two had Carl forced Jr into the wall, but he didn't. And I'm not condoning what Carl did in any way. I'm just comparing the two incidents.
