An update to the "Return on Investment Factor" (ROI) standings (previously called the "Expected Finish Factor").

As expected, the tightening up in the overall points standings is reflected here as points leader @Michfan has now dropped to fifth place in the ROI standings.

The details of the ROI concept can be found in the second post of this thread:

Deadline for this week's pick is Friday, October 27th, noon Eastern time.

I'm screwed. Larson is the only one I haven't used yet worth a crap and I was saving him for Homestead. If I don't finish dead last I will be shocked.

I can see it now Danica takes the lead during pit stops, she's almost out of fuel and then, suddenly, out of nowhere, a thunderstorm of epic proportions rolls in and she finally does it!!
The asterisk large enough does not exist.

Larson would still be a great pick for Homestead, IMO. I think he will try very hard to win that race.

Dave Marcis won a race at Richmond in the 80's without leading a single lap under green.

A caution brought the leaders of the race in to pit while Marcis stayed out to become the race leader.

While still under caution, it started to rain and darkness set in, causing NASCAR to call the race with Marcis being declared the race winner.

Danica can only hope . . .

Dave was probably at least running in the top 5 prior to the pit stop shuffle.

@pjmolo PLEASE say u are doing the game next year

He better be or there will be a rebellion in the forum.:mad::p

I'm up for running the Pick 'Em game again next year provided there's enough interest in the thing.

So whether you're in the game this year or not, to give me an indication of interest in the game and just what I might be in for in keeping track of it, if you think you might be interested in playing next year, how 'bout responding by liking this post.

However, if you're not interested . . .

R U KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!!!!

IM IN

the work you have put into this game is out of this world....

I want to thank Kurt Busch again for the late race spin at Charlotte and ****ing me out of the 20 points that would mean so much now.

Greg don't forget.
So Greg has a Jimmy Spencer Voodoo doll thats is currently beating up a Kurt Busch Voodoo doll.
After Jimmy finishes the Patricia Driscoll Voodoo Doll equipped with her Voodoo secret agent tools and devices kit, will take over...

It aint nothing personal, but I have to have a plan for corrective action to report to my partners.
It has to be done, Greg Nation is used to having only the best, and they deserve the best.

Who woulda thunk it ?

While several of the game's prognosticators (including me) were expecting the pick of Danica Patrick by @Michfan to cause him to fall from the top of the standings, her 17th place finish at Martinsville enabled @Michfan to stay on top for the 22nd consecutive week.

The top of the leader board did tighten up again, however, as the drafting tandem consisting of @Snappy D, @Greg, and @2 Sweet gained ground on @Michfan for the fifth consecutive week. With @Michfan having no "A list" or "B list" drivers left to pick from in the three remaining races, it's hard to imagine that he'll be able to keep from running out of gas before the finish.

Also to be considered as a championship contender is @jpell15, who's pick of 7th place finishing "fan favorite" Denny Hamlin moved him to within 43 points of the lead. Although mired in fifth place for four consecutive weeks, @jpell15 has nothing but "A list" drivers to pick from in the three remaining races.

A big congrats to @Johali who, by picking race winner Kyle Busch, moved into the top ten in the standings for the first time since the second race of the season. Although his "sandbagging" pick strategy (he also has three "A list" drivers remaining) may not get him to the top of the leader board, he has an excellent chance of advancing further.

Finally, @aunty dive has to be considered a favorite to win the "Hard Luck Player of the Year Award" as J.J. Yeley, his pick for Martinsville, was apparently replaced mid-week by Hermie Sadler as driver of the #7 car. Consequently, as the rules of the game dictate, @aunty dive was forced to endure a score of 41 points this week, thereby dropping him four spots to 16th place in the standings.

ouch . . .

I damned near picked Yeley... I never connected the dots of Sadler driving Yeley's car....

On the bright side, he only lost like 10 extra points.

I'd say Danicafreak is the one that got royally screwed.
